Barcelona has seven cruise terminals: six on the Adossat wharf (A, B, C, D, E and the MSC terminal) and one at the World Trade Center, which the port plans to close in the last quarter of 2026. Airport Terminal 1 to the Adossat wharf is 20 km by road, about 25 min without traffic, and the Cruise Bus shuttle links the wharf with the city center for €3.50 one way.

The seven terminals and where they are

The Port de Barcelona lists seven international passenger terminals on two quays. Six stand on the Adossat wharf. The seventh, the World Trade Center terminal (the South terminal, marked S on the port's map), is on the Moll de Barcelona, which the port's Barcelona Cruise Facilities 2026 brochure places within walking distance of the city center.

The distances in this table are the port's own figures, from each terminal to the city.

Terminal Quay Distance from the city Good to know
A Adossat 2 km Public terminal; a permanent walkway links A, B and C
B Adossat 2 km Public terminal
C Adossat 2.5 km Public terminal, due to be demolished in the last quarter of 2026
D (Palacruceros) Adossat 2.5 km Private concession with preferential use for Carnival group ships
E (Helix) Adossat 3 km Private concession with preferential use for Carnival group ships; car park at the terminal
MSC (H on the port's map) Adossat 3.9 km MSC Cruises' own terminal, opened in 2025
World Trade Center (South) Moll de Barcelona 400 m Public terminal for medium-sized ships, due to close in the last quarter of 2026

Your cruise documents name the terminal, and that is the address to plan around. On the port's map the Adossat terminals run in a line along the quay, with the MSC terminal at the far end, so "the cruise port" can mean quite different drop-off points. The port also closed the World Trade Center's North terminal in October 2023 and moved its calls to the Adossat wharf, so older directions to "Barcelona North" no longer apply.

Barcelona is where many cruises start and end, not only a day stop. The port's brochure counts 895 cruise calls in 2025, with 1,158,498 passengers embarking and 1,153,224 disembarking at the port. October had the most calls that year (125), just ahead of May (124).

Road distances and drive times

The estimates below come from OpenStreetMap road routing (OSRM), without traffic, checked 2026-09-30. They are measured at the Terminal A building. The MSC terminal is 3.9 km from the city by the port's count, against 2 km for Terminal A, so allow for the extra distance along the quay.

Journey Road estimate without traffic Measured between
Airport to the cruise port 20 km, about 25 min Terminal 1 and Terminal A
Cruise port to the airport 20 km, about 25 min Terminal A and Terminal 1
Barcelona Sants to the cruise port 7 km, about 15 min Sants station and Terminal A
Cruise port to central Barcelona 6 km, about 15 min Terminal A and Plaça de Catalunya

The airport routes use the C-31 and the B-10, the Ronda Litoral, and the port's terminal map sends drivers off the Ronda Litoral at exit 21. Treat these times as a minimum: traffic and roadworks add to them, and the estimates do not include getting bags in and out of the car.

The Cruise Bus, the metro and city buses

The port says the Adossat terminals have a shuttle bus, the Cruise Bus, that connects them with the city center. It lists the fare as €3.50 one way and €5 round trip, at the time of checking (October 2026). The operator's own site sells the €5 option as a day ticket valid for several trips on the date printed on it, paid by card online and sent by email as a PDF.

On the port's terminal map, the Cruise Bus starts on the Moll de Barcelona, the World Trade Center's quay, and serves terminals A, B, C, D, E and H when cruise ships are in port. To reach that quay, the same map gives these public transport links:

From Metro City buses
Plaça de Catalunya L3 to Drassanes Routes 59 and H14
Plaça de Sants L3 to Drassanes Route V11
Plaça d'Espanya L3 to Drassanes Route V11

Bus routes change, so check them with TMB, the city's metro and bus operator, before you travel.

The World Trade Center terminal is the exception. The port says it is a step away from the public transport network, and its terminal page says passengers can walk to the city center.

From the airport, public transport to a ship means several changes: first into the city (our guide to getting from Barcelona Airport to the city center compares the options), then the metro to Drassanes, then the Cruise Bus to the Adossat wharf. It works with light bags. With large suitcases, compare it with a taxi or a booked car.

Taxis, drop-offs and parking

The port's brochure lists a taxi rank at every terminal. Barcelona's regulated taxis charge the AMB tariff, and the 2026 tariff adds supplements that apply on cruise days:

AMB taxi supplement (2026) Amount When it applies
Moll Adossat maritime station €4.60 Journeys that start or end there
Airport €4.60 Journeys that start or end there
Sants station €2.55 Journeys that start there
Minimum fare from the airport €21.00 Rides that start at the airport, all supplements included

These are the figures at the time of checking (October 2026). Check the AMB's taxi site for the current tariff before you travel.

If someone is driving you, the port's rules are short. Prolonged parking is not allowed in the cruise area, but private vehicles may come in to drop off or pick up passengers and suitcases. For longer stays the port recommends car parks, among them the World Trade Center car park on the Moll de Barcelona and Parking Barcelona Port at Terminal E on the Adossat wharf.

Planning embarkation and disembarkation days

The day you sail

Your cruise line sets the check-in window and tells you the terminal. Work back from the start of that window: the road estimate, a margin for traffic, and time to load the bags.

Flying in on the day you sail leaves little room for a late flight or a slow baggage belt. A night in the city first turns one long transfer into two short ones: the airport to Plaça de Catalunya is 17 km, about 20 min by road without traffic, and Terminal A to Plaça de Catalunya is 6 km, about 15 min (OSRM estimates, checked 2026-09-30).

Count people and suitcases before you choose how to travel. A family with large cases may need more room than one taxi offers, and every change on public transport means lifting the bags again.

The day you leave the ship

The ship tells you when you can go ashore, and collecting bags in the terminal takes its own time. Book onward travel from that time, not from the hour the ship docks. Terminal A to Airport Terminal 1 is 20 km, about 25 min by road without traffic; then allow for the airport's own check-in and security.

With hours to fill before an evening flight, two things help. Bags&Go, which the port lists on its parking page, offers luggage storage and transport at the Trasmediterránea terminal on the Sant Bertran wharf. Or keep a car for the day: a few hours in the city, then the airport.

What changes at the port between 2026 and 2030

In July 2025 the port and Barcelona City Council agreed to cut the cruise terminals from seven to five, all on the Adossat wharf: four private terminals (D, E, G and H) and one public terminal, a new Terminal C. The port's timeline:

When What the port's plan says
Last quarter of 2026 Terminal S (World Trade Center South) closes, Terminal C is demolished and construction of Terminal G is completed
2027 Terminal G becomes operational and work on the new Terminal C begins
Third quarter of 2028 The new Terminal C opens with one berth; Terminals A and B are demolished
2029 The former A and B berths are rehabilitated and work starts on a bridge identical to the Porta d'Europa
2030 The twin Porta d'Europa bridge opens and the new Terminal C works with three berths

The agreement also plans an urban corridor along the Montjuïc coast for public transport, taxis, bikes and pedestrians, from Plaça de les Drassanes to the Marina del Prat Vermell and the Zona Franca, and a regular shuttle to the main public transport hubs. For a cruise in 2027 or later, the plan means the World Trade Center terminal is no longer an option and works continue on the Adossat wharf, so check the terminal in your documents again a few days before you travel.

When a private car is the better fit

Public transport and taxis cover many cruise days. The cruise port transfers page lists the routes from the terminals. A booked car makes the most sense when the day has several parts: large suitcases, a flight and a ship on the same day, a hotel night before sailing, or hours to fill between the ship and an evening flight.

Chauffeur Hire Barcelona quotes every journey on request. For a transfer from Barcelona Airport to the cruise terminals, or from the ship to the airport, send the flight number, the ship and the terminal, the date and time, and the number of guests and bags. A private driver covers a route with stops, such as the hotel, a few sights and then the ship, and an hourly chauffeur books a vehicle and driver for a set number of hours on the day you leave the ship. Ask through the quote form for a cruise port journey. For a wider comparison, see chauffeur, taxi, ride-hail or rental car in Barcelona.

Questions travelers ask

How far is the Barcelona cruise port from the airport?

By road, Airport Terminal 1 to the Adossat cruise terminals is 20 km, about 25 min without traffic, on the C-31 and the B-10 (OpenStreetMap road routing, OSRM, checked 2026-09-30). The estimate is measured at Terminal A. The MSC terminal at the end of the quay is farther out: the port puts it 3.9 km from the city, against 2 km for Terminal A. Traffic adds to every estimate.

Which cruise terminal will my ship use?

Your cruise documents name it. The port lists seven terminals: A, B, C, D (Palacruceros), E (Helix) and the MSC terminal on the Adossat wharf, and the World Trade Center (South) terminal on the Moll de Barcelona. D and E have preferential use for Carnival group ships, and MSC Cruises owns its terminal. The port plans to close the World Trade Center terminal in the last quarter of 2026.

Is there a shuttle bus from the cruise terminals to the city?

Yes. The port says the Adossat terminals have a shuttle, the Cruise Bus, that connects them with the city center, at €3.50 one way and €5 round trip at the time of checking (October 2026). The port's map shows it running from the Moll de Barcelona, the World Trade Center's quay, to terminals A, B, C, D, E and H when cruise ships are in port.

Can you walk from a cruise terminal to the city center?

From the World Trade Center terminal, yes: the port puts it 400 m from the city and says passengers can walk to the center. The Adossat terminals are 2 to 3.9 km from the city by the port's figures, and for those the port points passengers to the Cruise Bus shuttle, while its brochure lists a taxi rank at every terminal.

Are there taxi supplements at the cruise port?

Yes. Barcelona's 2026 AMB taxi tariff adds €4.60 to journeys that start or end at the Moll Adossat maritime station, and €4.60 to journeys that start or end at the airport. A ride from the airport has a €21.00 minimum fare with all supplements included. These are the figures at the time of checking (October 2026), so check the current tariff before you travel.

Can a car drop me off at the cruise terminal?

Yes. The port allows private vehicles into the cruise area to drop off or pick up passengers and suitcases, but prolonged parking is not allowed there. For longer stays it recommends car parks, including the World Trade Center car park on the Moll de Barcelona and Parking Barcelona Port at Terminal E on the Adossat wharf.
