Into the Eixample to the Sagrada Família
The Basílica de la Sagrada Família stands at Carrer de Mallorca, 401, in the Eixample, and gives its name to the neighborhood around it. Metro lines L2 and L5 stop at Sagrada Família station, and the basilica's own site lists the bus lines that serve it. For the drive, the estimate leaves Terminal 1 on the C-31, follows the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes into the grid, then turns up Carrer d'Aribau and across Carrer de València to Carrer de Padilla and Carrer de Mallorca: 20 km, about 25 min by road without traffic.
If you hope to see the basilica on the day you land, two rules in its official FAQ shape the plan. It has no lockers for suitcases: the only lockers hold bags and rucksacks for a short time, while their owners go up the towers. And a ticket is valid only for the time chosen, so arriving late means not getting in. A visit booked well after your scheduled landing, or a first stop at the hotel to leave the luggage, keeps that day workable.

From Terminal 1, the Basílica de la Sagrada Família is about 20 km by road, about 25 min without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026), on the C-31 and the Gran Via. From Terminal 2 the distance is about 16 km. Traffic in the city on the way in changes the real time.
Can I take my suitcases into the basilica if I go there straight from the flight?
Plan around the luggage. The basilica's FAQ says it has no lockers for suitcases, only lockers for bags and rucksacks while visitors go up the towers, and that bags and personal items pass through metal detectors at the entrance (Sagrada Família). With suitcases, the simpler plan is the hotel first and the basilica afterwards, or the visit on another day.
Which visit time should I book on the day I land?
Leave a margin. Tickets are valid only for the time chosen, and the basilica says late arrivals cannot enter (Sagrada Família). Allow for landing, baggage claim, the drive and traffic, and send the visit time with your request.
Is the drop-off at the basilica or at my hotel?
