Pickup at Barcelona Airport

How the pickup at Barcelona Airport is arranged is confirmed in the reply to your quote request.

Send the flight number and the scheduled landing time, and the terminal if you know it, so the quote matches your arrival.

Both terminals stand in El Prat de Llobregat, and Aena says the airport grounds also reach into Sant Boi and Viladecans (Aena). Plaça de Catalunya is about 13.5 km away in a straight line. For the city center, Terminal 2 is the shorter start by road; the main estimate leaves Terminal 1 on the C-31.

From the terminal to the city center

Barcelona is home to 1,713,247 people on 101.35 square kilometers, according to Idescat's 2025 figures, and its map has been split into ten districts under a division approved in 1984: Ciutat Vella, Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc, Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí. A transfer from the airport can end in any of them, which is why the street address you send counts for more than the name of the area.

The road estimate on this page ends at Plaça de Catalunya, the square generally treated as the city center and the point where the old city meets the 19th-century Eixample. Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, La Rambla and Portal de l'Àngel all start or end there. From Terminal 1 the estimate comes in on the C-31: 17 km, about 20 min by road without traffic (OpenStreetMap road routing, checked September 30, 2026). A hotel on the seafront, a flat up in Sarrià or an office near Diagonal Mar gives a different figure, and so does the traffic at the hour you land.

Drop-off in Barcelona

The quote covers the drive from the terminal to the address you send, so include the street and number, or the hotel's name and its street. For a rented apartment, the building's street address is what matters, not the name of the listing.

The neighborhoods below have their own pages, each with the district it belongs to. If you are going on to Barcelona Sants for a train rather than to a hotel, the Sants station transfer has its own estimate.

Questions about Barcelona Airport to Barcelona transfers

How quickly can we reach Plaça de Catalunya by road?

Plaça de Catalunya is about 17 km by road from Terminal 1, about 20 min without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026), following the C-31. Terminal 2 is the shorter start by road. Rush-hour traffic, and an address far from the center, change the real time.

Is Barcelona Airport inside the city?

No. Aena places both terminals in El Prat de Llobregat and says over 90% of the airport is in that municipality, with the rest in Sant Boi and Viladecans. Plaça de Catalunya is about 13.5 km away in a straight line.

Why does the estimate end at Plaça de Catalunya?

Because the square is generally considered the city center: the old city meets the Eixample there, and Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya, La Rambla and Portal de l'Àngel meet there (Wikipedia). Barcelona has ten districts (Wikipedia), so for an address in another part of the city the quote is worked out for that address.

We land in Barcelona and board a cruise the same day. Which page fits?

The airport to cruise port transfer. It ends at the cruise terminals on the Adossat quay rather than in the city center, with its own road estimate.
