Three ways into the Pyrenees

The ski areas within a day's drive of Barcelona sit along the Pyrenees in three groups. Straight north, the C-16 climbs through the Berguedà toward the Cadí tunnel and the Cerdanya, where La Molina and Masella, both in the municipality of Alp, share the Alp 2500 domain; La Molina's operator gives it 145 km of slopes. Beyond the Cerdanya the road leads on to Andorra, whose resorts publish their own figures: Grandvalira with 215 km in seven sectors, Pal Arinsal with 63 km in two, and Ordino Arcalís with 30.5 km.

The third group lies far to the west. Baqueira Beret, the ski area of the Val d'Aran and the Valls d'Àneu, lists 169 marked kilometers in four sectors between 1,500 m and 2,610 m, and Boí Taüll stands in the Vall de Boí in the Alta Ribagorça. The road estimates on the route pages below run from 144 km, about 1 h 55 min (Masella) to 313 km, about 4 h 10 min (Vielha, in the Val d'Aran), by road without traffic from Plaça de Catalunya.

The directory lists every ski journey with a page of its own: the Catalan Pyrenees and Lleida by county, the Andorran ski areas, and the routes that start at Barcelona Airport. Every journey is quoted on request, on your addresses, dates, group and equipment.

Planning a ski transfer

Which road goes where

The Cerdanya and Andorra estimates head north on the C-16. The Val d'Aran estimates go west instead, on the A-2 toward Lleida and then north on the N-230 through the Vielha tunnel, whose opening in 1948, the valley's tourism office says, first gave Aran a road link with the rest of Spain in every season. The Baqueira Beret estimate takes a third line, over the Port de la Bonaigua, a 2,072 m pass on the C-28.

Friday and Sunday on the C-16

The Generalitat de Catalunya reports that winter traffic between Berga and Bagà, on the C-16, can triple journey times, with the heaviest flows going north on Friday afternoons and south on Sunday afternoons, and that most of that stretch has one lane each way. The route estimates on these pages leave traffic, snow and stops out.

Snow on the roads

The Servei Català de Trànsit publishes current incidents on Catalan roads. Look before a winter trip, and put the time you would like to leave in your request.

Equipment in the request

List ski and snowboard bags, boot bags and suitcases with the number of guests, so the quote is worked out for the group and what it carries.

Questions about ski transfers

Which ski areas can I reach from Barcelona by private transfer?

The directory has route pages for La Molina, Masella, Baqueira Beret and Boí Taüll in the Catalan Pyrenees, and for Grandvalira and its sectors, Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís in Andorra. Valleys and towns near the slopes, such as the Val d'Aran, Vielha and Puigcerdà, have their own pages too.

How long is the drive from Barcelona to the slopes?

From Plaça de Catalunya, the estimates are 149 km, about 2 h to La Molina; 192 km, about 2 h 45 min to Andorra la Vella; and 283 km, about 4 h to Baqueira Beret. These are OpenStreetMap road estimates without traffic, checked September 30, 2026.

When is the road north busiest in winter?

According to the Generalitat de Catalunya, the C-16 between Berga and Bagà peaks on Friday afternoons going north and Sunday afternoons coming south, and in winter those volumes can triple journey times. A different departure time can change the trip.

Can I go straight from Barcelona Airport to a ski resort?

Three routes start at the airport: to La Molina, to Baqueira Beret and to Andorra. Send the flight number with the request.

What should I include in a ski transfer request?

The pickup address or flight number, the address at the resort, the dates, how many guests, and how many suitcases, ski or snowboard bags and boot bags. For Andorra, check the documents your nationality needs: the country is not in the EU or the Schengen area. Send it all by WhatsApp or through the quote form.
