What the transfer covers

Bellver de Cerdanya stands above the Segre at 1,061 m, about halfway between Puigcerdà and La Seu d'Urgell, and its name comes from the Old Catalan for a fine view of the Cerdanya. The old town keeps a porticoed Plaça Major from the 14th century and the parish church of Santa Maria i Sant Jaume. Beyond it the municipality spreads over 98.2 km² and 24 villages and hamlets with 2,289 residents in all (2025). One of them, Talló, has the Romanesque church of Santa Maria, begun in the mid-11th century and once the seat of the archdeacon of Cerdanya; another, Nèfol, lies inside the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park.

Almost the whole road estimate is a single highway. The C-16 leaves Barcelona heading north, climbs through the Berguedà and goes under the Serra de Moixeró through the Cadí tunnel, opened in 1984 and just over 5 km long, to come out in the Cerdanya. From the end of the C-16 a stretch of about 2 km on the N-260 takes the estimate west into town. A transfer here might end at a family house in one of the villages, a hotel in the old town, or a base for walking in the natural park.
