What the transfer covers

Vielha is the capital of Aran and its largest municipality, and the Conselh Generau d'Aran, the valley's government, has its seat here. The municipality, Vielha e Mijaran, was formed in 1970 by merging six older ones, and it takes in thirteen settlements, among them Betren, Escunhau, Casau and Gausac as well as Vielha itself. The Nere river runs through the town and empties into the Garonne, and the church of Sant Miquèu, built in the transition from Romanesque to Gothic, keeps the Crist de Mijaran, a wooden carving of the 12th or 13th century.

The town lies just north of the Vielha tunnel, and the N-230 through it is the road that ties Vielha to the rest of Catalonia on one side and to France on the other. This page's estimate heads west by the B-23, then follows the A-2 as far as the Lleida area, the A-14 and finally the N-230 north through the tunnel, the same way the Baqueira Beret resort gives in its own directions from Barcelona. A private transfer brings you from your address in Barcelona to your hotel, apartment or home in Vielha or one of its villages.

Why book a private chauffeur

  1. Through the tunnel, to your door

The valley has no direct train line, the tourism office says, so the trip from Barcelona ends by road whatever you choose. A private transfer runs from your address in Barcelona to your address in Vielha.

  2. A second home or a family visit

The resort's guide counts more than 36,000 beds in the valley's hotels and second homes. Give the street address or the building name, and the quote is for that door.

  3. A pause in Lleida or Benabarre

The N-230 passes Benabarre and the route starts out toward Lleida. If you would like to stop on the way, include it in your request.

  4. Your luggage list

Suitcases, skis, boots or bicycles: put them in the request with the number of guests, so the quote fits the group.

Return from Vielha to Barcelona

There is no separate page for the Vielha to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Vielha transfer

How long does the road journey to Vielha take?

The estimate puts Vielha about 313 km from Plaça de Catalunya, a drive of about 4 h 10 min without stops (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). The Vielha tunnel and the mountain stretch of the N-230 are part of that time.

Does the transfer to Vielha go through the tunnel?

The road estimate does: after the A-2 and the A-14 it follows the N-230 north through the Vielha tunnel, which links the Alta Ribagorça with Vielha. According to the Val d'Aran tourism office, it is the most frequent way into the valley.

Can I get to Vielha by train?

Not directly. The Val d'Aran tourism office says the valley has no direct train line; the closest stations it names are Lleida, and Montréjeau and Luchon in France, and the rest of the way is by road.

We are staying in Vielha and skiing at Baqueira Beret. Which page fits?

The resort's directions from Barcelona run through Vielha and then up the C-28 to the ski area. If your accommodation is in Vielha, use this page; if it is at the resort, use the Barcelona to Baqueira Beret transfer.
