What the transfer covers
Grandvalira is a ski area of seven sectors that the resort says are linked by slopes and lifts: Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Peretol, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa, with 138 slopes over 215 km between them. It spreads across the parishes of Encamp and Canillo, from Encamp, which the resort calls its first access from Spain, to Pas de la Casa, its oldest sector, on the border with Ariège in France.
With sectors so far apart, this page shows a range of road estimates instead of a single figure, and its two ends are reached by different roads. The estimate to Pas de la Casa leaves the C-16 for Puigcerdà, crosses into France and comes up to the Andorran border on the N 22. The estimate to Canillo stays in Spain as far as La Seu d'Urgell, enters Andorra at La Farga de Moles and turns off the CG-1 onto the CG-2 after Andorra la Vella. So the village where you sleep, more than the name of the resort, decides the road and the length of the trip.

The nearest point is at the French end of the ski area because that estimate goes through France rather than through Andorra la Vella.

Does the road to Grandvalira go through France?
For some sectors it does. The road estimates to Pas de la Casa, Soldeu and El Tarter cross into France near Puigcerdà and follow the French N 20, N 320 and N 22 to the border at Pas de la Casa, while the estimate to Canillo goes through La Seu d'Urgell and Andorra la Vella.
