What the transfer covers

Canillo is Andorra's largest parish by area, 121 km² by Wikipedia's count, yet Visit Andorra notes that it is one of the least densely populated. Its main town stands at 1,526 m on the CG-2, and from there a cable car rises to Grandvalira's Canillo sector, which the resort keeps open in summer as well as in winter. The parish is also seen as the religious center of Andorra: the sanctuary of Our Lady of Meritxell, the country's patron saint, is here, in a building by the architect Ricardo Bofill that opened in 1976 after fire destroyed the old one.

The routed estimate reaches Canillo from the Spanish side. It enters Andorra through Sant Julià de Lòria, follows the CG-1 to Escaldes-Engordany and then takes the CG-2 up the valley of the Valira d'Orient, through Encamp, to the town. The parish's two Grandvalira villages, El Tarter and Soldeu, have their own pages, and their estimates come in from France instead. This transfer ends at your address in the town of Canillo or in one of its villages, such as Ransol, Prats or Meritxell.

Start of the journey

Pickup in Barcelona

Pickup is wherever you are staying or living in Barcelona: a hotel, a holiday apartment or a home. Tell us the time you want to leave, or when you want to be in Canillo, and the quote is built on that.

If your trip starts with a flight into Barcelona, ask for the Barcelona Airport to Andorra transfer instead and give your Canillo address there.

End of the journey

Arrival in Canillo

The transfer ends at the address you send in the parish of Canillo: a hotel or apartment in the town, or a house in one of the villages along the valley. The figure in the route panel is for the town of Canillo itself.

For El Tarter and Soldeu, the parish's two Grandvalira villages, use their own pages, which carry their own estimates: El Tarter and Soldeu.

Why book a private chauffeur

  1. Dropped in the cable car town

The Canillo sector starts from the town by cable car. A transfer to your address there means no extra leg from Encamp or Andorra la Vella before your first day on the slopes.

  2. A stop at Meritxell

If you want to see the sanctuary of Our Lady of Meritxell, in the same parish, ask for the stop in your request and it goes into the quote.

  3. Room for a family's kit

Ski bags, sledges or a stroller: list what the family is bringing, with the number of children and adults, so the quote fits the group.

  4. Timed to your arrival

Give the hour you need to be in Canillo, for a hotel check-in or a ski lesson, and the pickup in Barcelona is planned back from it.

Return from Canillo to Barcelona

There is no separate page for the Canillo to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Canillo transfer

What is the road distance from Barcelona to the town of Canillo?

Canillo is about 203 km from Plaça de Catalunya by road, and the estimate gives about 2 h 55 min of driving (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Of the Grandvalira accesses estimated on this site, Canillo is the farthest from Barcelona by road. Traffic on the way north and any stop you request come on top of that figure.

Which way does the road climb from Andorra la Vella to Canillo?

The estimate leaves the CG-1 in Escaldes-Engordany and follows the CG-2 up the valley of the Valira d'Orient, through Encamp, to the town. Wikipedia describes the CG-2 as one of the two main roads out of Andorra la Vella, the one that leads on to the French border.

How do you get up to the Grandvalira slopes from Canillo?

By the cable car from the town: Grandvalira says its Canillo sector is reached that way and is open in summer as well as winter. The resort adds that its sectors are linked so that the whole skiable area can be covered without taking your skis off.

Are El Tarter and Soldeu part of the parish of Canillo?

They are. Wikipedia lists Soldeu and El Tarter among the parish's localities, along with Ransol, Prats, Meritxell, Incles and others. Each has its own transfer page, El Tarter and Soldeu, because their road estimates are routed through France.

What is there to see in Canillo besides skiing?

Visit Andorra points to the Incles valley, a glacial valley with hiking trails for all levels, the Roc del Quer viewpoint and the Tibetan bridge, which its own site gives as 603 m long and up to 158 m above the ground. The sanctuary of Meritxell and the Romanesque church of Sant Joan de Caselles are in the parish too.
