Along the coast to La Barceloneta
La Barceloneta is the seaside corner of the Ciutat Vella district, a triangle with the Mediterranean on one side, the Moll d'Espanya of Port Vell on another and El Born on the third. Juan Martín Cermeño designed it in the 18th century, and building began in 1754 for residents of La Ribera displaced when the Ciutadella went up. Its population in 2023 was 14,274. The Casa de la Barceloneta museum occupies a preserved house from 1761, a clock tower was built in 1772, and the W Barcelona hotel stands on the beach.
From Terminal 1, the estimate takes the C-31 toward the city, joins the Ronda Litoral (B-10) along the coast and leaves it at the port, coming in by Passeig de Colom and Plaça de Pau Vila: 19 km, about 20 min by road without traffic. Inside the neighborhood, the blocks are long and narrow and the streets run in parallel, so the building number guides the last few hundred meters better than the name of a nearby beach.
