What the journey covers
Bilbao is the largest city in the Basque Country and in the province of Biscay, built along the estuary that the Nervión and Ibaizabal rivers form about 16 km before they reach the Bay of Biscay. Since the mid-1990s the old industrial city has turned to services, and the Guggenheim Museum on the riverbank, designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 1997, came to stand for that change. A chauffeured journey there suits a working trip to the city's offices, a museum visit at the end of a long day, or a family move with more luggage than a plane allows.
The drive leaves Catalonia, crosses Aragón and follows the Ebro through La Rioja before it reaches the Basque Country. On the route estimate (606 km, about 6 h 35 min by road without traffic) the B-23 and a short run on the AP-7 lead to the AP-2, which heads inland past Lleida and Fraga towards Zaragoza. Most of the second half is on the AP-68, the Autopista Vasco-Aragonesa, which links Zaragoza with Bilbao through Tudela, Calahorra and Logroño.

Start of the journey
Pickup in Barcelona
Pickup is at the address in Barcelona that you put in the request: a hotel, a home, an office or a rented apartment. Tell us when you need to be in Bilbao, or when you would like to leave, and the quote is planned for that timing.
If the journey has to start at Barcelona Airport or Barcelona Sants, name the flight or train with the terminal or station.

End of the journey
Arrival in Bilbao
Drop-off is at the address you give in Bilbao: a hotel near the Guggenheim, an office, a home or a flat in the Casco Viejo. If you are continuing by train, give Bilbao-Abando station as the address with your departure time.
For somewhere else in the Basque Country, send that address instead; the quote is for the place you name.

Why book a private chauffeur

Lunch in La Rioja
The AP-68 passes about 3 km from Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, where Calle del Laurel is known for its tapas bars. A midday break there splits the drive into two shorter halves.
A meeting in Zaragoza first
The routed line runs past Zaragoza before it turns up the Ebro. If you have business there on the way, add the address and the time you need.
Everything you pack, in one place
Relocating or staying for weeks? Your bags, boxes or work equipment travel with you from the first door to the last, so list them all in the request.
A start time that fits your day
With more than six hours of driving before any break, the departure hour matters. Give the time you must arrive in Bilbao and the start is planned back from it.
Return from Bilbao to Barcelona
There is no separate page for the Bilbao to Barcelona journey. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Bilbao journey
How much of the day does the road to Bilbao take?
Most of it. Bilbao is about 606 km from Plaça de Catalunya, about 6 h 35 min at the wheel without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Spain's traffic directorate, the DGT, recommends a pause of at least 20 to 30 minutes every two hours or 200 km, so plan the day around three stops.
Which motorways does the journey to Bilbao use?
The estimate follows the AP-2 from its junction near El Vendrell inland to Zaragoza, then the AP-68, also called the Autopista Vasco-Aragonesa or Autopista del Ebro, which Wikipedia describes as the link between Zaragoza and Bilbao through Tudela, Calahorra and Logroño.
Is the Rioja wine country on the way to Bilbao?
Yes. The routed line passes about 3 km from Logroño and about 2 km from Haro. Logroño is the capital of La Rioja, sits on the Ebro, and its economy centers on Rioja wine (Wikipedia). Add a stop to the request with how long you want to stay, and the quote includes it.
Can the journey end at the Guggenheim?
Yes, the drop-off is the address you send, whether that is the museum or a hotel near it. Frank Gehry's museum opened in 1997 on the banks of the Nervión (Wikipedia). If you arrive with luggage and plan to visit straight away, say so, and the plan covers where the bags go first.
