What the transfer covers

With 32,624 residents in 2025, Calafell is a town of the Baix Penedès spread over three main centers: the old village of Calafell, the Platja de Calafell on the shore and Segur de Calafell, where about half of the population lives. Its coast is five kilometers of unbroken beach in three sections, the Platja de Calafell, the Platja de Segur and the Platja de l'Estany-Mas Mel, and the town hall recalls the old nickname of the baby bottle beach, earned by the fine sand, the calm sea and the gentle slope into the water. History sits at both ends of town. On a hilltop in the old village, the castle of the Santa Creu was first recorded in 1037, and just east of the beach quarter a fortified settlement of the Cossetani, an Iberian people, has been rebuilt for visitors.

Of the Costa Daurada towns with a route page on this site, Calafell is the nearest to Barcelona. The estimate takes the C-31 out of the city and stays on the C-32 through the Garraf, 63 km, about 55 min by road without traffic. That puts a family week on the sand, a weekend in an apartment or a beach day with the drive home that evening within easy reach.

Arrival in Calafell

The drive ends at the address you send. Calafell's centers are some way apart: the old village sits around the castle hill, about 1.5 km from the coast, while the beach quarter and Segur de Calafell line the shore, with smaller residential areas such as Mas Mel and Calafell Parc. Give the street and number, and the name of the residential area if you are outside the main centers.

A settlement of the Cossetani on a 15-meter hill east of the beach quarter, about 300 m from today's shoreline. Built over a 6th-century BC settlement and fortified in the 5th century BC, it was destroyed in the Second Punic War, and its houses, towers and walls have been rebuilt to show the 3rd-century BC town.

Why book a private chauffeur

  1. Village, beach or Segur

The old village, the beach quarter and Segur de Calafell are separate centers. The quote is for the street you send, so you are dropped where you are staying, not at a stop in the middle.

  2. A family on the move

The town's beaches are known for a gentle slope and calm water, and families come with plenty to carry. List the suitcases, the stroller and the beach gear with the number of guests.

  3. A beach day with the evening drive back

Calafell is the nearest Costa Daurada town on this site. If you want a day by the sea and to be back in Barcelona for dinner, put both legs and both times in one request.

Questions about the Barcelona to Calafell transfer

How far down the coast is Calafell?

It is the nearest Costa Daurada town in our route data: about 63 km from Plaça de Catalunya on the C-31 and the C-32 through the Garraf, about 55 min by road (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Leaving Barcelona at a busy hour adds to it. The Costa Daurada page compares the coast's towns as far as Cambrils.

Calafell, Platja de Calafell or Segur: which part are we going to?

Check the address on your booking. The municipality has three main centers: the old village on its hill, Platja de Calafell by the sea, and Segur de Calafell, where about half the residents live (Viquipèdia). The old village, crowned by the Castell de la Santa Creu, first recorded in 1037, is about 1.5 km from the coast (Viquipèdia), so the street decides where you are dropped.

Which beach should I name: Calafell, Segur or l'Estany-Mas Mel?

None of them: give the street address. The town hall describes five kilometers of continuous beach split into the Platja de Calafell, the Platja de Segur and the Platja de l'Estany-Mas Mel (Ajuntament de Calafell), so the street is what tells the driver where to stop.

Can we visit the Iberian citadel during the trip?

Add it to your request as a stop, with the time you want there. The Ciutadella Ibèrica stands on a small hill east of the beach quarter, about 300 m from the shore, and shows a Cossetani settlement as it was in the 3rd century BC (Ajuntament de Calafell).
