What the transfer covers

Coma-ruga is not a town of its own but a seaside district of El Vendrell, the capital of the Baix Penedès, and it grew out of a spring. The water that rises on its beach comes from the limestone of the Bonastre massif; it was declared mineral and medicinal in 1892, and the spa built over it in the 1920s started the district's growth. The spa has gone, but the spring still feeds the Estany and the Riuet, a pond and a small stream that run out onto the sand. The beach is 2,300 m long and up to 100 m wide, with Sant Salvador to the east and El Francàs to the west. Offshore, beside the Coma-ruga harbor, the Masia Blanca marine reserve protects a patch of rocky seabed in an area of sand and mud.

On the road estimate, the C-31 takes you out of Barcelona and the C-32 does the rest: it is the Autopista de Pau Casals, named after the cellist born in El Vendrell, and you leave it at the exit signed for Coma-ruga and come in along Avinguda de la Generalitat. It comes to 67 km, about 55 min by road without traffic, for a beach holiday, a weekend in a second home or a visit to the Pau Casals Museum next door.

Start of the journey

Pickup in Barcelona

Pickup is at the address you send in Barcelona: a hotel, an apartment, a home or an office. For a start at the port or the main station, see the cruise port transfer and the Barcelona-Sants station transfer.

Coming straight from a flight? The Barcelona Airport transfer page covers journeys from the terminals; send the flight number and your Coma-ruga address.

End of the journey

Arrival in Coma-ruga

The transfer ends at the address you give. El Vendrell's coast has three beach districts, Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga and El Francàs, and the town of El Vendrell itself lies 3.5 km inland from the beaches, so the street and number matter more than the name of the area. For a hotel on the seafront, the hotel's name and street are enough.

Why book a private chauffeur

  1. The right beach district

Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga and El Francàs run into each other along El Vendrell's coast. Give the street of your flat or hotel and that is where the drive ends.

  2. By way of the Casals museum

The Pau Casals Museum is in Sant Salvador, the next beach district to the east. Add a visit to the request if you want to see it before you check in.

  3. Friday down, Sunday back

For a weekend in a second home, send both dates and both times in one request and the two journeys are quoted together.

  4. Room for the summer

List the suitcases, the beach gear and anything bulky with the number of guests, so the quote covers everything that comes with you.

Questions about the Barcelona to Coma-ruga transfer

Which exit off the C-32 serves Coma-ruga, and how long does the drive take?

The estimate stays on the C-31 and the C-32, the Autopista de Pau Casals, named after the cellist born in El Vendrell, and leaves it at the exit signed Coma-ruga. From Plaça de Catalunya that is about 67 km and about 55 min by road (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). A Friday evening on the C-32 or an address at the far end of the beach makes it longer.

Is Coma-ruga part of El Vendrell?

Yes. Coma-ruga is a seaside district of the municipality of El Vendrell (Viquipèdia), the capital of the Baix Penedès and the birthplace of the writer Àngel Guimerà (Wikipedia). Addresses in Coma-ruga are El Vendrell addresses, so give the street as well as the district.

Is the Pau Casals Museum near Coma-ruga?

Yes, in Sant Salvador, the next beach district. The museum is the cellist's summer house, Vil·la Casals, at Avinguda Palfuriana 67, facing the beach (Fundació Pau Casals). Add it to your request as a stop, with the time you want there.

Is there really a spring on Coma-ruga beach?

Yes. Water from the limestone of the Bonastre massif rises on the beach. It was declared mineral and medicinal in 1892, and the spa built around it in the 1920s started Coma-ruga's growth. Today it flows through an ornamental fountain into a pond and a small stream that run out onto the sand, home to carp, mullet and eels (El Vendrell Turisme).
