What the transfer covers
Carcassonne, the prefecture of the Aude in Occitanie, lies about 80 km east of Toulouse, where the Aude river and the Canal du Midi pass through the town. Most visitors come for the Cité: a fortress town on a hill above the right bank of the river, enclosed by double walls 3 km long and set with 52 towers. The architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc restored it from 1853, and UNESCO added it to the World Heritage List in 1997. Below it, across the Aude, is the lower town, the Ville Basse, founded in the Late Middle Ages for inhabitants expelled after the Albigensian Crusades.
The journey starts by the sea and ends inland. Once clear of Barcelona on the C-31 and C-33, the route estimate follows the AP-7 to the French border and carries on along the A 9, passing Perpignan, as far as Narbonne. There it branches west onto the A 61, called the Autoroute des Deux Mers, a motorway between Narbonne and Toulouse, for the last part of the drive. With a private chauffeur you travel from your Barcelona address to your hotel or rental in Carcassonne in one vehicle.

Start of the journey
Pickup in Barcelona
Collection is at your address in Barcelona: a hotel, an apartment or a home. Say when you want to leave, or when you would like to be at the Cité, and the quote is worked out around that time.
Coming off a cruise or a train? Give the cruise terminal or Barcelona Sants as the pickup, with the ship or train details.

End of the journey
Arrival in Carcassonne
Drop-off is at the address you send in Carcassonne: a hotel in the lower town, a guesthouse close to the Cité or a house in the surrounding Aude countryside. The town is spread over both banks of the river, so the exact address matters.
Flying out afterwards? Carcassonne Airport, also called Salvaza, is about 3 km west of the town, and it can be the drop-off address.

Why book a private chauffeur

Straight to your hotel
The drive ends at the address you send, so you do not need to find your own way from a station or a parking area to your hotel.
Plan your arrival at the Cité
Carcassonne receives about three million visitors a year, according to Wikipedia. Choosing your own departure time lets you decide when you arrive.
Joining a canal boat
If your trip continues on the Canal du Midi, give the name of the boat base or the mooring as the drop-off, with the time you are due there.
On to Toulouse later
Toulouse is about 80 km further west on the A 61. If you want to go on there after Carcassonne, ask for both legs in the same request.
Return from Carcassonne to Barcelona
There is no separate page for the Carcassonne to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Carcassonne transfer
Can we see Carcassonne on a day trip from Barcelona?
It makes a long day. By road, Carcassonne is about 303 km from Plaça de Catalunya, about 3 h 20 min each way (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026), on motorways the whole way: the AP-7, the A 9 to Narbonne and the A 61 west. You may prefer a night in the town; if you still want to return the same evening, ask for both journeys in one request and say how long you want at the Cité.
Where should we be dropped for the walled Cité?
Send the address of your hotel or guesthouse. The Cité stands on a hill on the right bank of the Aude, while the lower town is on the other side of the river (Wikipedia), so the two are different drop-off points.
Is Carcassonne on the Canal du Midi?
Yes. Both the Aude and the Canal du Midi flow through the town (Wikipedia). The canal runs 240 km from Toulouse to the Étang de Thau, was built between 1666 and 1681 and was listed by UNESCO in 1996; a diversion connected Carcassonne to it in 1810 (Wikipedia). For a canal boat, give the port or mooring as the drop-off.
How far is Toulouse if we continue after Carcassonne?
Carcassonne lies about 80 km east of Toulouse (Wikipedia), and the A 61 links the two. The Barcelona to Toulouse page has its own estimate. For a stop in Carcassonne on the way, or a second journey a few days later, put both in the same request.
