Badia del Vallès started life as Ciutat Badia, a housing project of the Spanish government on farmland taken from Sabadell, Cerdanyola del Vallès and Barberà del Vallès. Catalan Wikipedia dates the first phase to 1970; the works ended in 1973 with 5,372 homes, and the town was inaugurated in 1975. It became a municipality of its own on April 14, 1994. Idescat gives it 0.93 square kilometers and 13,058 residents in 2025, and the AMB counts it among the most densely populated municipalities in Catalonia.
