Barcelona Airport to Girona Transfer

Girona is the capital of its province and of the Gironès county, built where the Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell rivers meet, and Idescat counts 108,352 residents in 2025. Most visitors come for the Barri Vell, the old quarter. Its cathedral is reached by ninety steps, and the stone vault of its Gothic nave spans 22.98 meters. The Passeig de la Muralla follows the walls, largely rebuilt on the eastern side between 1983 and 2003, and the Call was home to a medieval Jewish community until 1492. The houses lining the Onyar were restored and painted in a palette of 29 colors in 1982.

From the airport the drive bypasses Barcelona to the north instead of following the shore. The estimate from Terminal 1 runs on the B-20, the C-33 and the AP-7, and covers 117 km, which OpenStreetMap routing checked on September 30, 2026 estimates at about 1 h 30 min of driving without traffic. That is a longer trip than from the city itself, which Wikipedia puts 99 km southwest of Girona, and it is worth weighing against Girona-Costa Brava Airport, about 10 km south of the city, if your airline flies there.
