What the transfer covers

Empuriabrava is a residential marina in the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries, in the Alt Empordà, on the Gulf of Roses. Planned from 1964 on land that had been marsh, it is laid out along navigable canals with about 5,000 private moorings. A Costa Brava guide from the Generalitat de Catalunya pairs it with Santa Margarida as residential marinas built in the 1960s, notes that Empuriabrava's aerodrome is known internationally as a center for parachute jumping, and sets all this against the quiet of the wetlands next door, now the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park.

The road estimate stays on the AP-7 as far as Vilamalla, uses the N-II to the eastern edge of Figueres and then turns east on the C-260. That road crosses Vila-sacra and passes Castelló d'Empúries, the chief town of the Empordà in the Middle Ages, whose Gothic church of Santa Maria is known as the cathedral of the Empordà, before Empuriabrava's own avenues lead to the canals. A villa on an inner canal, a flat by the 1.5 km beach and the aerodrome are all in Empuriabrava but some way apart, so give the full address.

Start of the journey

Pickup in Barcelona

Send the Barcelona address where the trip should start, whether a hotel, a short-let flat, a home or an office, with the time you want to set off.

Flying in to Barcelona and going straight to the bay? That trip has its own route, the Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava transfer, quoted from the terminal with your flight number.

End of the journey

Arrival in Empuriabrava

The transfer ends at the Empuriabrava address you give: a house or apartment on one of the canals, a flat near the beach, a hotel, or the aerodrome.

Roses, farther round the same bay, has its own Barcelona to Roses transfer page with its own road estimate.

The Aiguamolls de l'Empordà were protected by a law of 1983. The park lies between the Muga and Fluvià rivers, Empuriabrava sits between two of its zones, and 329 bird species have been recorded there (Viquipèdia). The Generalitat's guide adds storks, flamingos and ducks to the list of what birdwatchers come for.

Why book a private chauffeur

  1. To the right canal

Empuriabrava's homes line its canals rather than one main street. The drop-off is the door you send, not the town center.

  2. Timed for a jump

Booked a skydive at the aerodrome? Give us the time of your jump slot and the pickup in Barcelona is timed to have you there first.

  3. A stop near Figueres

The estimate skirts Figueres and crosses Castelló d'Empúries. If you want to stop in either, for the Dalí Theatre-Museum or the old town, add it to the request.

  4. Bags and gear listed up front

Bringing sailing or diving kit? Mention it next to the suitcase count when you write, and the quote is prepared with it in mind.

Return from Empuriabrava to Barcelona

There is no separate page for the Empuriabrava to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Empuriabrava transfer

Roughly how long is the car journey to Empuriabrava?

Reckoned from Plaça de Catalunya, the drive to Empuriabrava covers about 152 km and lasts about 1 h 50 min without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Where on the canals you are staying changes the last few minutes.

Is Empuriabrava a town of its own?

It is part of the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries, in the Alt Empordà (Viquipèdia). The old town of Castelló d'Empúries lies on the C-260, on the way in from Figueres.

Can the drop-off be the aerodrome for a skydive?

Give the aerodrome as the address in your request, with the time you need to be there. The Generalitat de Catalunya's guide to the Costa Brava describes it as known internationally as a center for parachute jumping.

Does the transfer go through Figueres?

Not through the center. The estimate leaves the AP-7 at Vilamalla, follows the N-II to the eastern edge of Figueres and takes the C-260 through Vila-sacra and Castelló d'Empúries (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). For a stop in the city, add it to the request; the Barcelona to Figueres transfer page covers trips that end there.

Is Empuriabrava next to the Aiguamolls nature park?

It sits between two zones of it. The Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, protected by a law of 1983, lies between the Muga and Fluvià rivers, and 329 bird species have been recorded there (Viquipèdia). The Generalitat's Costa Brava guide names storks, flamingos and ducks among the birds people come to see.
