What the transfer covers
Roses is an Alt Empordà town at the center of Roses Bay. The Costa Brava guide of the Generalitat de Catalunya describes the bay as a deep inlet some 15 km long, closed by the Cap de Creus peninsula to the north and the Montgrí massif to the south. The town began as Rhode, a Greek colony founded by settlers from Massalia in the 4th century BC. In 1543 Charles V ordered the bay fortified: the Citadel, an irregular pentagon that encloses the remains of Rhode, Roman settlements and the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria, and the star-shaped castle of La Trinitat on Punta de la Poncella, built between 1544 and 1551. Roses still has a fishing port, and the guide suggests walking the harbor in the evening, when the boats come in followed by gulls.
Out of Barcelona, the estimate stays on the AP-7 until Vilamalla, near Figueres, follows the N-II briefly and then takes the C-260 past Vila-sacra, Castelló d'Empúries and Empuriabrava before it reaches Roses. Outside the town, the municipality takes in the coves of L'Almadrava, Montjoi and Jòncols and Cap Norfeu, an integral reserve of the Cap de Creus Natural Park, so a stay away from the center needs its exact address.

Start of the journey
Pickup in Barcelona
We collect you from the Barcelona address in your request, whether a hotel, a flat, a house or an office, with the departure time you ask for.
If you are flying in and heading straight for the bay, ask for the Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava transfer, which begins at the terminal, and add the flight number.

End of the journey
Arrival in Roses
The drop-off is your address in Roses: a hotel on the seafront, an apartment in town, a house in one of the residential areas, or a villa above one of the coves.
Cadaqués, on the Cap de Creus peninsula north of the bay, has its own Barcelona to Cadaqués transfer page.
The Citadel opened to the public in 1991 and has been run by the town council as the Espai Cultural la Ciutadella from 2004 (Viquipèdia). The castle of La Trinitat stands about 60 meters above the sea and has belonged to the town council from 1990 (Viquipèdia).

Why book a private chauffeur

Up to the coves
Villas above L'Almadrava or Montjoi are well outside the town, and that is where the transfer ends if that is the address you give.
A museum on the way
The estimate passes the edge of Figueres. If you want time at the Dalí Theatre-Museum first, say so and give the hour on your ticket.
Bags for a summer on the bay
Packing for a long stay? Count the cases, beach umbrellas and sports bags in your message, and the quote is based on that list.
Return from Roses to Barcelona
There is no separate page for the Roses to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Roses transfer
How far up the coast is Roses, by car from Barcelona?
The estimate gives about 156 km between Plaça de Catalunya and Roses, and about 1 h 55 min on the road when there is no traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Summer traffic and the exact address change the real time.
What is inside the Citadel of Roses?
Within its walls are the remains of the Greek colony of Rhode, Roman settlements and the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria (Viquipèdia). The Generalitat's Costa Brava guide says the fortress was built by Charles V to protect the region from pirates.
Can the transfer take us to a villa near Montjoi or Jòncols?
Send the villa's address or name; the quote is made for that exact drop-off. Both coves are in the municipality of Roses, which also takes in Cap Norfeu (Viquipèdia).
Does the drive to Roses pass Empuriabrava?
Yes. After the AP-7 and a short stretch of the N-II, the C-260 runs past Vila-sacra, Castelló d'Empúries and the edge of Empuriabrava before Roses (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). If you are staying in Empuriabrava, the Barcelona to Empuriabrava transfer has its own estimate.
What is the star-shaped fort on Punta de la Poncella?
The Castle of La Trinitat, about 60 meters above the sea. It was built between 1544 and 1551 on a four-pointed star plan to protect the Gulf of Roses, and it passed to the town council in 1990 (Viquipèdia).
