What the transfer covers

Cadaqués is a fishing village at the northern end of the Costa Brava, and the Costa Brava tourism guide published by the Catalan government calls it the focal point of the Cap de Creus peninsula. Since it was discovered in the early 20th century, the isolated village and its whitewashed houses have drawn artists such as Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, Federico García Lorca and Marcel Duchamp. In the cove of Portlligat, within the municipality, Salvador Dalí settled in 1930 in a small fisherman's hut that he turned into his home. The peninsula around them is the Cap de Creus Natural Park, which the Costa Brava tourism board describes as the first maritime-terrestrial natural park in Catalonia.

The route estimate is 170 km, about 2 h 10 min by road without traffic. The estimate follows the C-31 and then the C-33 north from Barcelona, continues on the AP-7 and the N-II, then takes the C-260 from Figueres toward Roses and the GI-614 for the last stretch into Cadaqués. If the trip includes the Dalí House-Museum, which only takes booked visits, put the time of your visit in the request.

Start of the journey

Pickup in Barcelona

We collect you at the Barcelona address in your request: a hotel, an apartment, a family home or a workplace. Send the address and the time you would like to set off.

If you are flying into Barcelona and heading straight for the coast, the Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava transfer starts at the terminal.

End of the journey

Arrival in Cadaqués

The drop-off is the address you give in Cadaqués: a house in the old village, a hotel on the bay, or a stay out at Portlligat, which belongs to the same municipality. For a visit to the Dalí House-Museum, give the museum as the drop-off address together with the time of your booking.

Every visit to the Salvador Dalí House-Museum in Portlligat must be booked in advance for a set date and time. Visits run in limited groups, and the museum asks visitors to collect their tickets half an hour before the time of entry, or the booking is lost (Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí). Leave room for that when you choose the pickup time in Barcelona.

  1. Timed for the House-Museum

Dalí's house in Portlligat is visited at a booked time. Put that time in your request and the pickup in Barcelona is planned to get you there first.

  2. One vehicle for a long road

At about 2 h 10 min by road without traffic, this is a long transfer. One vehicle covers it from your door in Barcelona to your door in Cadaqués, with no change on the way.

  3. A stop in Figueres

The route turns off for Roses at Figueres, home of the Dalí Theatre-Museum. If you want to visit it on the way, add the stop and your ticket time to the request.

Return from Cadaqués to Barcelona

There is no separate page for the Cadaqués to Barcelona transfer. Ask for the return in the same request, with its date and time, and we quote both directions.

Questions about the Barcelona to Cadaqués transfer

What driving time should we plan for Cadaqués?

Plan on about 2 h 10 min without traffic to cover about 170 km between Plaça de Catalunya and Cadaqués (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). It is among the longest Costa Brava drives from Barcelona, so stops and summer traffic weigh more on the real time.

Can the transfer take us to Dalí's house in Portlligat?

Portlligat is part of the municipality of Cadaqués, so give the House-Museum, or your hotel there, as the drop-off address. Book the visit first: the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí only admits visitors with an advance booking for a set date and time.

Can we stop at the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres on the way?

The route estimate reaches Figueres before it takes the C-260 toward Roses, so a stop fits the journey. Add it to your request with the time of your museum ticket; the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí sells Theatre-Museum tickets online. For a round trip with the museum and no overnight stay, see the Dalí Museum chauffeur day trip.

What is Cap de Creus?

The rocky peninsula around Cadaqués, protected as the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the first maritime-terrestrial natural park in Catalonia (costabrava.org). The Generalitat's Costa Brava guide notes that Dalí called its rock shapes a grandiose geological delirium and used them in his double-image pictures. The lighthouse at the cape dates from 1850.

How early should we be at Dalí's house in Portlligat?

Half an hour before your booked entry. The Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí asks visitors to collect their tickets 30 minutes before the time of entry, or the booking is lost, and visits run in limited groups (Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí). Give the entry time in your request so the pickup in Barcelona leaves room for it.
