Escaldes-Engordany is Andorra's spa parish. Visit Andorra says its thermal waters have been used for centuries and now support leisure and health tourism, and that the natural spring in the town, the Font del Roc del Metge, comes out of the ground at more than 70 °C. Caldea, one of the spas that use this water, opened in 1994 as a thermal leisure center rather than a traditional spa. The parish is also the newest of the seven: Andorra had six until 1978, when Escaldes-Engordany was separated from Andorra la Vella, and it groups Escaldes, Engordany, Els Vilars d'Engordany, Engolasters and El Fener.
