What the transfer covers
Pals is a municipality of the Baix Empordà in three parts, as the Generalitat de Catalunya describes it in its Costa Brava guide: the old village, the beach, a 3.5 km stretch popular with windsurfers, and Els Masos de Pals. The village crowns the Pedró hill and looks over the plain on every side. Inside its walls are the Gothic church of Sant Pere and the Torre de les Hores, a Romanesque tower built between the 11th and 13th centuries and one of the few parts of the old castle still standing. From the Josep Pla viewpoint the view runs across the Empordà plain to the Montgrí massif, with the Medes Islands behind it. On the plain below, rice has been grown for centuries; the Catalan Wikipedia finds records of it from the 14th century.
On the way, the estimate swaps the AP-7 for the C-35 and C-65, runs north on the C-31 coast road, then turns inland at Llofriu and reaches the village through Torrent on the GI-652. It ends at the old village on the hill, while the beach, Els Masos and the Golf Platja de Pals course lie out toward the sea, so the address in your request decides the last few minutes.

Arrival in Pals
Drop-off can be the old village on the hill, a house out on the plain, an apartment at the beach of Pals or in Els Masos, or the golf course. A street address or the name of the property is enough.
Nearby Begur has its own page, the Barcelona to Begur transfer, for stays in its town or coves.
Pals is one of the eight municipalities of the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park, created in 2010 (Wikipedia). Its rice growers flood the fields between November and February so that migrating birds, insects and native plants can thrive there (Visit Pals).

Questions about the Barcelona to Pals transfer
How long does the car take to the old village of Pals?
The estimate from Plaça de Catalunya to the village of Pals on its hill is about 129 km, or about 1 h 40 min without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). After the AP-7, the C-35 and the C-65 it takes the C-31 coast road north, a short stretch of the C-66 at Llofriu and the GI-652 through Torrent. An address at the beach or in Els Masos changes the last part of the drive.
Is the beach of Pals close to the village?
They are separate parts of the municipality: the Generalitat de Catalunya's Costa Brava guide lists the village, the 3.5 km beach and Els Masos de Pals. The road estimate ends in the village on the hill, so give the beach address if that is where you are staying.
Why is Pals known for rice?
Rice has been grown on the plain around the village for centuries, and the Catalan Wikipedia calls it one of the town's signs of identity. Visit Pals says the cooler climate keeps the rice in the ground longer, so the grain stays firm when cooked.
Is there a golf course at Pals?
Yes. Golf de Pals, at Platja de Pals, calls itself the first golf course on the Costa Brava: 18 holes in a pinewood, designed by Fred Hawtree, where the Spanish Open was played in 1972 (Golf de Pals). If you are bringing golf bags, count them with the suitcases when you ask for the quote, and say whether you are going to the village, the beach or Els Masos.
