Vineyards on the Serralada de Marina
Tiana climbs the seaward slopes of the Serralada de Marina, in the southernmost corner of the Maresme county. Catalan Wikipedia traces its land from the Turó d'en Galceran to the Coll de Montalegre, where the Conreria road crosses into the Vallès Oriental through Sant Fost de Campsentelles, and down toward the sea at Montgat, which was a district of Tiana until 1933. Its other neighbors are Santa Maria de Martorelles, El Masnou, Alella and Badalona. Two thirds of the municipality lie inside the Parc de la Serralada de Marina, and Idescat counts 9,362 residents on 7.95 square kilometers (2025), much of it woodland, scrub and vines.
Those vines are part of the Alella wine appellation. The whole of Tiana falls within DO Alella, first recognized in 1954, whose signature white grape is the pansa blanca, grown in sauló, a sandy soil weathered from granite. Up the Conreria road stands the Cartoixa de Montalegre, a charterhouse begun in 1415 and, according to Catalan Wikipedia, the only one in Catalonia that still has a community of monks. Lower down, the Ermita de la Mare de Déu de l'Alegria, the town's old parish church, was consecrated in 1104.

Charterhouse, chapel and vines

Cartoixa de Montalegre
A Carthusian charterhouse on the Conreria road in Tiana. Work on it began in 1415, on the site of an earlier Augustinian house, and it is the only Catalan charterhouse that still keeps a monastic community. It is a cultural asset of local interest.
