From Girona Airport to Tossa de Mar

The route estimate leaves the airport on the A-2, turns toward the sea on the C-35 and reaches Tossa de Mar on the GI-681. Tossa is not the closest resort to this airport by road: Lloret de Mar, its neighbor to the south, is a shorter drive. The Generalitat de Catalunya's Costa Brava guide counts the castle of Tossa among the images that had already made the coast a tourist destination in the 1960s.

That castle is the Vila Vella, the walled old town on the headland. Tossa's tourist office dates its walls to the early 13th century, when they went up against pirate raids, and says the enclosure and its battlements have stayed almost entirely intact. Four large towers and three cylindrical ones stand along them, among them the Joanàs Tower above the bay and the Clock Tower at the entrance to the old parade ground. In the 15th century the town inside had eighty houses, most of them built against the walls. At the top, the rectangular castle with its watchtower gave way to the lighthouse, built in 1917 on the highest part of the cape.

Drop-off in Tossa de Mar

Send the address in Tossa de Mar and the quote is for it: a hotel on the seafront, an apartment in the newer streets or a house outside the center. If you are staying in or just below the Vila Vella, give the exact street and number, since its streets are narrow and cobbled.

If you would rather stay in the neighboring resort, the Girona Airport to Lloret de Mar transfer is the shorter drive.
