From the airport to the coast at Platja d'Aro

Platja d'Aro grew from very little in the second half of the 20th century. The Catalan Wikipedia describes a small hamlet, Fenals d'Aro, with 113 inhabitants at the start of the century, that developed during the tourism boom of the 1960s and took the name Platja d'Aro in 1962. It is now the main settlement of the municipality it shares with Castell d'Aro and s'Agaró, and the seat of its town hall, with more than two kilometers of beach, a marina where the Ridaura reaches the sea and a carnival revived in 1978.

The drive from the airport stays inland until it is almost at the sea. The estimate picks up the C-25 near the airport, on the road signposted for Cassà, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro; this road, the Eix Transversal, continues as an ordinary road to Cassà de la Selva and meets the C-65 there. The C-65, which the town's tourism office describes as the access from inland, runs on toward the coast, a short stretch of the C-31 follows, and the GI-662 leads into town. The town's tourism office lists direct buses from Girona-Costa Brava Airport in the summer season only.

Drop-off in Platja d'Aro

The quote is for the address you send in Platja d'Aro. The shore runs from Platja Gran, the long town beach, to small coves such as Cala Rovira, close to the center beside the coastal path, and Sa Conca, where the s'Agaró coastal path ends, so a hotel on the front, an apartment a few streets back and a house above a cove can be some way apart. Give the street and number, or the name of the hotel.

Questions about Girona Airport to Platja d'Aro transfers

How far is Platja d'Aro from Girona Airport, compared with Barcelona's?

From Girona-Costa Brava Airport the estimate is about 38 km, about 40 min by road without traffic, on the C-25, the C-65, a short stretch of the C-31 and the GI-662 (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Platja d'Aro's tourism office gives Barcelona's Josep Tarradellas Airport as about 120 km away; if your flight lands there, see the Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava transfer.

Is there a bus from Girona Airport to Platja d'Aro?

The town's tourism office lists direct buses from Girona-Costa Brava Airport during the summer season only. Outside summer, or if you want to go straight to your door, a private transfer is quoted on your flight and your address.

Our house is above a cove, not on Platja Gran. Does that matter?

Only for the address. The shore runs from Platja Gran, the long town beach, to small coves such as Cala Rovira, close to the center beside the coastal path, and Sa Conca, where the s'Agaró coastal path ends (Visit Platja d'Aro). Send the street and number, or the house name, so the quote is for that door.

We are staying in Castell d'Aro. Is that a different drop-off from the beach?

Yes, so give that address. Visit Empordà describes Castell d'Aro as the historical center of the municipality, 3 km from the beach, with the Castle of Benedormiens and a late Gothic church, while Platja d'Aro is the resort along the main beach. The road estimate ends in Platja d'Aro, so an address in Castell d'Aro changes the last part of the drive.
