What the transfer covers

Calella de Palafrugell is a seaside village of the municipality of Palafrugell, in the Baix Empordà. In its guide to this coast, the Generalitat de Catalunya lists it among the spots where only fishermen's huts once stood, and the Catalan Wikipedia dates the first record of people living here year round to 1746; the village later served as a port for shipping cork. A row of arches faces Port Bo beach, and fishing boats still lie on the sand in front of it. Reefs along the shore break the coast into small beaches, Canadell and Port Pelegrí among them, and coves such as El Golfet, below the Cap Roig gardens.

Road-wise, the C-35 and C-65 take the route estimate off the AP-7 and over to the C-31 coast road, the Eix Costaner, which it follows toward Palafrugell before dropping to the village on the GIV-6546, one of the two roads the Generalitat guide gives for reaching Calella. A trip here can be timed around an evening: the havaneres singing on Port Bo beach, a concert in the Cap Roig gardens, or a dinner booking by the water.

Arrival in Calella de Palafrugell

Drop-off is the address you give in Calella: a hotel or flat near Port Bo, a house above one of the coves, or the Cap Roig gardens for a visit or a concert.

Llafranc, joined to Calella by the coastal path, has its own page, the Barcelona to Llafranc transfer, if that is where you are staying.

The havaneres are sea shanties sung each summer in Calella, when Port Bo beach is turned into an open-air auditorium (costabrava.org); the Generalitat guide adds that they are sung over cremat, coffee flambéed with rum. Cap Roig, the estate that Nicolai Woevodsky and Dorothy Webster began in 1927, is now also a sculpture park and hosts the Cap Roig Festival of summer concerts (Generalitat de Catalunya). If the trip is for one of these evenings, give the start time with your request.

Coming for a concert at Cap Roig or the havaneres on Port Bo? Tell us when it starts, and the time we collect you in Barcelona is set to get you there for it.

  2. Through to the village door

The drive goes on from Palafrugell down to the coast and ends at the address you send in Calella, with no change of transport on the way.

  3. Everything for a week by the sea

A week on the coast means more than a cabin bag. Say how many suitcases and beach bags are coming, and the quote is based on that count.
