What the transfer covers

Llafranc is a small Costa Brava settlement in the municipality of Palafrugell. Its bay runs from Punta d'en Blanc in the south to the cape of Sant Sebastià in the north, around a beach of fine sand about 360 meters long. Under the Romans it was a center for making wine and pottery, and presses and a cellar have been found near the church of Santa Rosa. The bay now has a marina, and the Generalitat's guide to the coast names the nearby coves of Pedrosa and Gens.

High above the bay, the cape of Sant Sebastià brings together a lighthouse working from 1857, a 15th-century watchtower, an inn and hermitage built in the early 18th century, and an Iberian settlement that lasted from the 5th to the 2nd century BC. The road estimate reaches Llafranc from inland, by Mont-ras and the town of Palafrugell, and the GIV-6546 then brings it down to the shore. Because the address decides the last part of the drive, send the street, the hotel's name or the house you have rented.

End of the journey

Arrival in Llafranc

We take you to the Llafranc address in your request: a hotel by the beach, a flat near the marina, or a house on the road up toward the cape of Sant Sebastià.

For a stay in Calella de Palafrugell, the neighboring village along the coastal path, see the Barcelona to Calella de Palafrugell transfer. Tamariu is the third coastal village of Palafrugell.

The Palafrugell Plus heritage site describes the lighthouse on Sant Sebastià as visible 32 nautical miles, about 60 km, out to sea, and places the 15th-century watchtower 165 meters above the water (Palafrugell Plus). The hermitage and inn beside them were built at the start of the 18th century, after the plague of 1650.

Questions about the Barcelona to Llafranc transfer

How does the drive to Llafranc run, and how long is it?

The estimate from Plaça de Catalunya to Llafranc is about 126 km, about 1 h 40 min of driving with no traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). After the C-35 and the C-65 it follows the C-31 coast road from Santa Cristina d'Aro, skirts Mont-ras and Palafrugell, and takes the GIV-6546 down to the bay. Calella de Palafrugell, along the coast, has almost the same figures.

Is Llafranc part of Palafrugell?

Yes. The municipality of Palafrugell takes in the coastal villages of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu (Visit Palafrugell). Palafrugell itself is inland, and the transfer ends at your address down on the bay.

What is on the cape of Sant Sebastià?

According to Palafrugell Plus, a lighthouse that started working in 1857, a 15th-century watchtower, a hermitage and an inn from the early 18th century, and an Iberian settlement that lasted from the 5th to the 2nd century BC. It stands on the cape that closes Llafranc bay to the north.

Is there anything to see in Palafrugell on the way down?

The Cork Museum. The Generalitat de Catalunya's Costa Brava guide points to it in Palafrugell, the inland town Llafranc belongs to, as a museum on cork, one of the Costa Brava's sources of wealth in the 19th century and part of the 20th. The estimate skirts the town on its way to the bay (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026), so add the museum to your request as a stop if you want it.
