Chauffeur day trip from Barcelona
Girona's old quarter for a day, with a driver from Barcelona: the walls, the Call and the Romanesque monuments at your own pace, then back to Barcelona when you are ready. Quoted on request.
Girona's old quarter, the Barri Vell, is a place to see on foot, and a day trip leaves you the hours to do it properly. The cathedral, behind its Baroque stairway and facade, has a Gothic nave 23 meters across; the lanes and patios of the Call keep the character of the medieval Jewish quarter; and a path along the ramparts runs from tower to tower above the roofs. The Basilica of Sant Feliu, which served as the city's first cathedral until the 10th century, keeps eight pagan and early Christian sarcophagi from the 4th century.
Just outside the walls, by the Galligants river, the 12th-century Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants now houses the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia in Girona. The Arab Baths, despite the name, are a Romanesque bathhouse from the same century built on the Roman model, with a cupola on slim columns over the central pool. Along the Onyar, brightly painted house fronts look down on the river.
The trip itself is simple: your driver comes for you in Barcelona, drives you up to Girona, and takes you home at the end, with no train times to work around. A second stop fits if you ask for it, such as the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres further north or a cove on the Costa Brava. Send the plan and you get a quote for that day.
Beyond the cathedral and the Call
A 12th-century Romanesque Benedictine monastery outside the medieval walls, above the Galligants river, known for the carved capitals of its nave and cloister. It now houses the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia in Girona, and the church of Sant Nicolau beside it is an exhibition room.

A Romanesque construction of the 12th century inspired by Roman baths: a barrel-vaulted entrance room for changing and resting, and a cupola over the central pool supported by slim columns with carved capitals.

Girona's first cathedral until the 10th century, built between the 13th and 18th centuries, with a slender 14th to 16th-century bell tower. Inside are eight pagan and early Christian sarcophagi from the 4th century and the 14th-century Recumbent Christ by Aloi de Montbrai.

The date, the pickup time and address in Barcelona, the number of guests, and how long you want at Girona.
We reply with a quote for that day, based on the route and the hours you describe.
Your driver collects you at the address in the request, such as your hotel or apartment.
The time on the ground follows the plan in your request: set your own pace, with no group to wait for.
The drive back ends at your address, or at another one if you ask for it in the request.

Plan on about 1 h 15 min each way by road without traffic: about 101 km from Plaça de Catalunya to Girona (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Real times depend on where you are collected and on the day's traffic.
Inside the old quarter: the cathedral, the Call with the Museum of Jewish History, the Arab Baths, the Basilica of Sant Feliu and the walk along the walls. Sant Pere de Galligants stands just outside the medieval walls, and the painted houses line the Onyar.
Along the Onyar, which runs through the city. The city's tourism office calls the painted facades over the river Girona's most emblematic image. Add the riverside to your plan for the day, and tell us where you want to be collected for the drive back.
Yes. Add the second stop to the request, for example the Figueres day trip for the Dalí Theatre-Museum, or a Costa Brava village, and the whole day is quoted together. With a guide, the private tours on this page pair Girona with Figueres, with Pals and Calella de Palafrugell, or with Montserrat and the coast.
