Chauffeur day trip from Barcelona
A Sitges day from Barcelona with your own driver: the old town and its museums, the beaches near the church, lunch by the sea and the ride back at the end of your plan. Quoted on request.
Sitges faces the Mediterranean from the Garraf county, with the Garraf Massif rising behind it. On the waterfront stands the church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, built in the 17th century, and the beaches of Sant Sebastià, La Ribera and Balmins are close to the old town; further out, the Garraf natural park keeps smaller coves.
In 1893 the painter Santiago Rusiñol founded Cau Ferrat in the town as his home and workshop. The gatherings of artists, musicians and writers he held there made it, in its museum's words, the temple of Modernisme. It became a public museum in 1933, with his collections of ironwork, ceramics and glass beside paintings by Rusiñol, Ramon Casas and Picasso. The Maricel Museum carries the story from the 10th century to the first half of the 20th.
The town has a wine of its own as well: Malvasia de Sitges is one of the grape varieties of the DO Penedès, and the local Malvasia is a sweet wine served with dessert. On a chauffeur day trip you set the order, say museums in the morning, lunch by the sea and an afternoon on the sand, and the driver takes you back to your hotel in Barcelona at the end. Send the plan for a quote.
