Chauffeur day trip from Barcelona
Your own car and driver for a day in Tarragona: down the coast in the morning, the Roman walls and the old town for as long as you like, and back to your door in Barcelona at the end. Each day trip is quoted on your plan.
Tarragona was Tarraco, and a day there is mostly spent among what the Romans left inside the modern city. The archaeological promenade, opened in 1932, runs between the Roman wall, whose oldest parts go back to the late 3rd century BC and rest on huge megalithic blocks, and an 18th-century outer wall. Lower down, the circus built under the emperor Domitian lies beneath the old town: its arena became the Plaça de la Font, and later buildings, the town hall among them, stand on its remains. The cathedral, from the 12th and 13th centuries, the amphitheater by the sea and the Rambla Nova fill out the walk. For lunch there is El Serrallo, the harbor quarter known for seafood, or the Mercat Central, a Modernista market hall opened in 1915 on Plaça Corsini.
Outside the city, 4 km to the north, the two tiers of arches of the Les Ferreres aqueduct, also called the Pont del Diable, make a stop on the way in or out.
With a chauffeur the day follows your plan: collection at your address in Barcelona, the drive down the coast, as long in Tarragona as you want, and the drive back. Tell us the date, the pickup time and what you want to see, and we reply with a quote. For a guide and a set itinerary, the private tour below is booked online.
Places to plan the day around
A landscaped walk opened on October 22, 1932, to a design by Jeroni Martorell, laid out between the Roman wall and the 18th-century counterwall. The wall's base is built of megalithic blocks, and the Torre de Minerva stands at its highest point.

Built under Domitian (81 to 96 AD) for chariot and horse races. Large barrel vaults survive under the old town, and the arena was built over as the Plaça de la Font.

Also called the Pont del Diable, 4 km north of the city, with two levels of arches, 25 above and 11 below. It probably dates from the time of Augustus and is part of the Archaeological Ensemble of Tarraco.

The covered market on Plaça Corsini, designed by Josep Maria Pujol i de Barberà in a Modernista style with pointed arches, opened in December 1915 and reopened in March 2017 after a long renovation.

Tarragona, Sitges
The date, the pickup time and address in Barcelona, the number of guests, and how long you want at Tarragona.
We reply with a quote for that day, based on the route and the hours you describe.
Your driver collects you at the address in the request, such as your hotel or apartment.
The time on the ground follows the plan in your request: set your own pace, with no group to wait for.
The drive back ends at your address, or at another one if you ask for it in the request.

No. Count about 1 h 20 min each way: Tarragona is about 95 km from Plaça de Catalunya by road without traffic (estimate: OpenStreetMap road routing, no traffic, checked September 30, 2026). Plan how many hours you want in the city with both drives in mind.
Yes. Add it to your request with the time you want there. The aqueduct, also known as the Pont del Diable, stands 4 km north of the city and is one of the parts of the Tarraco World Heritage site outside the center (Wikipedia).
Yes, name it in the request and it is quoted as part of the day. Altafulla, just up the coast, has the Roman villa of Els Munts, another element of the Tarraco World Heritage site; for Sitges on the way back, see the Sitges day trip, which can be combined with Tarragona.
The private tour on this page pairs Roman Tarragona with Sitges. It has a set itinerary with a guide, includes a walking tour of Tarragona's old town and entry to the amphitheater and the circus, and is booked online. A chauffeur day trip has no guide and follows the plan you send.
Partly beneath the streets of the old town. Built under Domitian (81 to 96 AD), the circus was later built over: its arena became the Plaça de la Font, buildings such as the town hall stand on it, and some of its barrel vaults survive (Viquipèdia). Add it to the day's plan with the other Roman sites.
