Baix Llobregat

Castelldefels, from the beach to the Garraf

Castelldefels faces the Mediterranean along a beach of fine sand about 4.8 km long, set between two very different landscapes: the wetlands of the Llobregat delta on one side and the limestone of the Garraf massif on the other. The AMB places the start of the Garraf Natural Park at the town's northern and western edges, with Gavà wrapping around it to the east and north and Sitges beginning to the west. Idescat recorded 69,689 inhabitants in 2025 on 12.87 km² of the Baix Llobregat county.

The castle that gave the town its name stands on a hill above the center. It appears in documents from 967 and was rebuilt from 1897 by the architect Enric Sagnier for the banker Manuel Girona. The Canal Olímpic de Catalunya opened in 1991 for the flatwater canoe events of the 1992 Games. The Campus del Baix Llobregat, which began teaching in the 2001-2002 academic year, is home to the UPC's school of telecommunications and aerospace engineering (EETAC).

The airport is close by. OpenStreetMap road routing puts Terminal 1 at about 13 km, about 15 min by road without traffic, mostly on the C-31 (checked September 30, 2026). The AMB also names the C-32 motorway and the C-245 road as the ways in.

Questions about a chauffeur in Castelldefels

How far is Castelldefels from Barcelona Airport by road?

OpenStreetMap road routing (OSRM) estimates about 13 km and about 15 minutes without traffic from Terminal 1, mostly on the C-31, and about 15 km and a similar time from Terminal 2 (checked September 30, 2026). Traffic and the exact address change the real time. See Barcelona Airport to Castelldefels transfer.

We are staying near the beach. What address should I give?

The beach runs for about 4.8 km, so a street name and number, or the name of your hotel or building, works better than "the beach". If you know it, add whether it is closer to the Castelldefels stop or to Platja de Castelldefels, the two R2 stations.

Can I book a driver for the EETAC campus or the Canal Olímpic?

Yes, as a single journey, as business travel or as a chauffeur by the hour. Give the times you need to arrive and leave, and the address: the school is at C. Esteve Terradas, 7.

Can a transfer continue to Sitges or further south?

Yes, on request. Sitges is the next municipality to the west, and the transfers to Sitges, Tarragona and PortAventura have their own pages. Those pages start in Barcelona; give your Castelldefels address as the starting point.

Do the private tours pick up in Castelldefels?

The private tours list hotel pickup and drop-off, most of them in Barcelona. Castelldefels is a separate municipality, so ask whether a pickup there is possible before you book.
