It stands on the left bank of the Llobregat in the Barcelonès county. Esplugues de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat lie along its western edge, while to the east and south the urban fabric runs on into Barcelona without a break. Thirteen neighborhoods, grouped into six districts, include Collblanc, La Torrassa, Santa Eulàlia, Bellvitge and Granvia Sud.
Fira Barcelona Gran Via, the trade fair venue designed by Toyo Ito, is on Avinguda Joan Carles I and offers 240,000 m² of gross exhibition area; MWC Barcelona is one of the events its organizers hold there. Bellvitge University Hospital is on Carrer de la Feixa Llarga, and the Centre Cultural Tecla Sala, a former textile mill bought by the city council in 1982, now houses an art center and the central library.
