Cervelló lies in the valley of the Riera de Cervelló, on the eastern foothills of the Ordal range and close to the right bank of the Llobregat. Idescat counts 9,726 residents in 2025 across 24.10 square kilometers, and the AMB names its neighbors as Vallirana, Corbera de Llobregat, La Palma de Cervelló, Torrelles de Llobregat, Sant Vicenç dels Horts, Gelida and Subirats. The highest point, Puig d'Agulles, rises to about 653 meters.
For centuries the territory was a scatter of farmhouses around the castle of Cervelló, which watched over the Ordal road to the Penedès. Catalan Wikipedia ties the grouped village to the royal road from Barcelona to València, begun in 1763; paper mills, textile works and glassmaking followed. Today the B-24 and the N-340 both cross the municipality, per Spanish Wikipedia. Josep Tarradellas, president of the Generalitat, was born here in 1899, and Aena gives his name to Barcelona's airport: Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat.

Sant Ponç monastery
A former Benedictine priory from the eleventh century, called a jewel of Romanesque architecture by the tourism board. A yearly gathering (aplec) is held there, and guided tours of the old monastery are listed.
