La Marina del Prat Vermell is the lower half of La Marina de Sants, between La Marina de Port and the Zona Franca industrial estate, on land long known as Can Tunis. On the city's barri map it also takes in the Zona Franca, which is why it covered 1,403.4 hectares in 2021 but had only 1,356 registered residents. Its name comes from the Prat Vermell, one of six calico-printing fields recorded here in 1851, which belonged to the Serra i Bertrand firm.
Barcelona's 1846 ban on new factories inside the city pushed industry out to land like this, where space and water were plentiful, and in 1897 the area joined Barcelona together with Sants. In 1955 SEAT opened its car plant in the Zona Franca, and the company's training center, still standing on Passeig de la Zona Franca, went up in the neighborhood. A redevelopment approved in 2005 planned 10,865 homes, 47 percent of them protected, for up to about 30,000 people. Its Parc de les Tretze Roses opened in 2024, and the Districte 38 offices by Arata Isozaki and the FOA studio house the Agència Tributària de Catalunya.

Colònia Santiveri
A small workers' colony built from the 1910s around the Santiveri factory, between Carrer de l'Encuny, Carrer de les Torres de Marina and Carrer de Gabriel Miró. It is still lived in, and keeps the owners' house of 1895.
