Chauffeur Service in Poble-sec

El Molino and the other Paral·lel theaters line one edge of El Poble-sec, and the MNAC and the Fundació Joan Miró sit on its Montjuïc side. A driver covers a ride home after a late show, a museum morning or a cruise ship.

Sants-Montjuïc district

El Poble-sec, from the Paral·lel up Montjuïc

El Poble-sec means the dry village. According to the historian Miquel Badenas, the name came about when factories that arrived in the mid-19th century drained the wells of the Hortes de Sant Bertran. Building began in 1858, once the city walls had come down, and three settlements, França Xica, Santa Madrona and les Hortes de Sant Bertran, grew together under the single name.

The streets of houses fill a narrow strip between Avinguda del Paral·lel and the slopes of Montjuïc, in the Sants-Montjuïc district, yet the official neighborhood covers 460.5 hectares and takes in much of Montjuïc park: the Palau Nacional with the MNAC, the Fundació Joan Miró, the castle and the Olympic stadium all lie inside its boundary. In 2021 it had 40,204 residents. The Paral·lel itself, opened in 1894, filled with music halls and popular theaters in the decades before the 1930s, and El Molino, the Apolo, the Victòria and the Condal still operate along it.

From El Poble-sec, a driver can cover a cruise ship or a flight, a trade fair at Fira Barcelona Montjuïc, a museum visit on the hill or a show that ends late on the Paral·lel. Name the street or the venue, the hour and how many guests are coming, and you get a quote for the journey.
