La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample is the western end of the Eixample grid. When the old Esquerra de l'Eixample was divided in 2006, with Urgell and Avinguda de Sarrià as the line, it took the half on the Llobregat side. In 2021, 57,906 people lived on its 134.1 hectares, more than in any other neighborhood of the district.
Several of its landmarks have changed use. Les Arenes, the neo-Mudéjar bullring that August Font i Carreras built on the north side of Plaça d'Espanya, opened in 1900, staged its last bullfight in 1977 and came back in 2011 as a shopping center designed by Richard Rogers. Behind it, the municipal slaughterhouse gave way in 1982 to the Parc de Joan Miró, with Miró's Dona i Ocell. La Model, the prison on Carrer d'Entença that opened in 1904, closed in 2017, and the Batlló brothers' cotton mill on Carrer del Comte d'Urgell is now the Escola Industrial.
Two rail hubs sit at its edges. Espanya station, under Plaça d'Espanya, serves metro lines L1 and L3 and the FGC, with the Fira's Montjuïc venue across the square; at the end of Avinguda de Roma, Barcelona Sants has an entrance on Plaça dels Països Catalans. Les Arenes
A neo-Mudéjar bullring by August Font i Carreras on the north side of Plaça d'Espanya, opened on 29 June 1900. The last bullfight was held there in 1977. Richard Rogers turned it into a shopping center with a domed roof and a rooftop viewpoint, opened on 24 March 2011, and its basement connects to Espanya station (L1, L3 and FGC).

Parc de Joan Miró (Parc de l'Escorxador)
Opened in 1982 on four blocks of the old municipal slaughterhouse, between Carrer de Vilamarí, Carrer d'Aragó, Carrer de Tarragona and Carrer de la Diputació. Joan Miró's sculpture Dona i Ocell stands over its paved square, and the Biblioteca Joan Miró opened beside it in 1990.

La Model
A former men's prison filling two blocks between Carrer del Rosselló, Carrer de Provença, Carrer de Nicaragua and Carrer d'Entença. Designed by Salvador Vinyals and Josep Domènech i Estapà, it opened on 9 June 1904 and closed on 8 June 2017. Casa Golferichs (El Xalet)
A modernista house by Joan Rubió i Bellver, finished in 1901, at the corner of Carrer de Viladomat and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. A neighborhood campaign stopped its demolition in the 1970s, and it reopened as a civic center in 1989.
