Sants-Montjuïc district

Sants, the neighborhood around the station

Sants is part of the Sants-Montjuïc district. It was once a town in its own right, Santa Maria de Sants, and its annexation to Barcelona became final on April 20, 1897. Avinguda de Madrid and Carrer de Berlín separate it from Les Corts to the north; on the east, Avinguda de Josep Tarradellas and Plaça dels Països Catalans divide it from the Eixample and Hostafrancs; La Bordeta lies to the south and Sants-Badal to the west, across Carrer de Badal. Some 43,700 people lived here in 2021, on 109.8 hectares.

Estació de Barcelona-Sants opened in 1975 on Plaça dels Països Catalans and serves high-speed trains to Madrid, Rodalies commuter lines and metro lines L3 and L5. Next to it, the Parc de l'Espanya Industrial was laid out on the land of a textile factory and opened in 1985. Carrer de Sants, the main shopping street, passes the former tram depot of Cotxeres de Sants, now a civic center, and the Mercat de Sants opened its doors in 1913.

A driver from Sants can pick you up off a train, take you to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat or the cruise terminals, or start a long drive out of Barcelona. Name the train or flight, the hour and the people and luggage going with you, and a quote comes back for that trip.
