Sants-Montjuïc district

La Bordeta, on the line of the Via Augusta

La Bordeta was the lower part of Santa Maria de Sants, the town Barcelona annexed in 1897, and is now a neighborhood of Sants-Montjuïc with 19,451 residents (2021) on 57.2 hectares. It borders Sants, Sants-Badal, Hostafrancs, La Font de la Guatlla and La Marina, and, across the municipal boundary, the Santa Eulàlia neighborhood of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The name goes back to a roadside building beside the Riera Blanca that served as an inn in the 16th century. The main street, the old Carretera de la Bordeta, now split into Carrer de la Bordeta, Carrer de Gavà and Carrer de la Constitució, follows the line of the Roman Via Augusta. Farmhouses and fields watered by the Canal de la Infanta gave way to industry, above all Joan Batlló's cotton mill, Can Batlló, opened in 1880; part of its site became a neighbor-run community space in 2011. At Plaça de Cerdà, where the Ronda del Mig crosses Gran Via, the Ciutat de la Justícia by David Chipperfield and Fermín Vázquez opened in 2009 on the land of the old Lepanto barracks, bringing L'Hospitalet's courts and many of Barcelona's into one complex.

From La Bordeta a chauffeur can take you to a hearing at the Ciutat de la Justícia, a fair at the Gran Via venue in L'Hospitalet, a train at Barcelona Sants or a flight. Send the address, the hour you have to arrive and how many are going, and you receive a quote.
