Sants-Montjuïc district
A garden-city corner on Montjuïc's north-west slope
La Font de la Guatlla is a small neighborhood of Sants-Montjuïc, 29.7 hectares with 10,239 residents in 2021. It lies at the foot of Montjuïc, on the mountain's north-west slope, between the hill and the stretch of Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes that runs from Plaça d'Espanya to Plaça de Cerdà. Its neighbors are Hostafrancs, La Bordeta, La Marina de Port and El Poble-sec.
The name comes from a spring, the Font de la Guatlla, at the end of Carrer del Rabí Rubèn, where the Butsems works made paving and artificial stone. While the 1929 International Exhibition was being built, the factory employed about a thousand people, and many of them put up small houses on the hill. Those low houses with gardens still fill the part nearest the mountain, on streets named after flowers such as Dàlia, Begònia and Crisantem, a trace of the plan for a garden city, while taller blocks stand nearer Gran Via. Josep Puig i Cadafalch's Casaramona textile factory, opened in 1913 and used by the police until 1992, became CaixaForum Barcelona in 2002.
Plaça d'Espanya, with the Fira's Montjuïc venue on its far side, marks one end of the neighborhood, and Plaça de Cerdà, close to the L'Hospitalet boundary, the other. A chauffeur from La Font de la Guatlla can take you to a fair, the airport, the port or another city: give the street, up on the hill or down by Gran Via, and the time you need.

Questions about a chauffeur in la Font de la Guatlla
Can a driver take me from La Font de la Guatlla to a fair at Fira Barcelona Montjuïc?
Yes. Fira de Barcelona gives the Montjuïc venue's address as Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, s/n, one of the avenues leaving Plaça d'Espanya at one end of this neighborhood. Name the fair, the hall if you know it and the times for each day. Montjuïc events are covered on Fira Barcelona; if your badge names the Gran Via venue in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, see Fira Gran Via.
My house is on one of the streets up the hill. Can a car collect me there?
Give the street and number as on any request, and the pickup is agreed with the quote. The part of the neighborhood nearest the mountain is a small group of low houses with gardens, on streets such as Dàlia, Begònia and Crisantem; if your door is hard to reach by car, mention it.
Can I see CaixaForum and the Poble Espanyol with a driver for a few hours?
Yes, with a chauffeur by the hour, booked for the number of hours you need. CaixaForum Barcelona occupies the former Casaramona factory in this neighborhood, and the Poble Espanyol stands on Montjuïc; list both with the time you want at each.
How do I arrange an airport transfer from La Font de la Guatlla?
Send it through Barcelona Airport Transfer or the quote buttons on this page: your street, the flight number and time, the terminal if you know it, and the number of guests and bags. Arrivals and departures are both quoted.
Is the price of a trip from here shown anywhere?
No. The site does not publish prices; every journey is quoted from the route, the date and time, and the people and bags traveling. Send those details with Request a quote.
