La Marina de Port, between Montjuïc and the Zona Franca

La Marina de Port is the upper half of La Marina de Sants, the area at the foot of Montjuïc facing away from El Poble-sec; the lower half is La Marina del Prat Vermell. It lies between La Bordeta, La Font de la Guatlla, La Marina del Prat Vermell, the slopes of Montjuïc and the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat boundary, and Passeig de la Zona Franca carries the Ronda del Mig through it from Plaça de Cerdà. In 2021 it had 31,092 residents on 126.9 hectares.

The neighborhood groups several older quarters: Port, Can Clos, Polvorí, Foment, Sant Cristòfol, Estrelles Altes, La Vinya and Plus Ultra. The name Port is recorded as early as 970 and recalls an early harbor, thought to have silted up into marshland; a castle of Port and the chapel of the Mare de Déu de Port, mentioned in 1029, stood here too. It was traditionally farmland with many masies. In the 20th century the Zona Franca industrial estate next door drew workers from across Spain, and after SEAT opened its Zona Franca plant in 1955, close to 1,000 homes were built for its workers in Sant Cristòfol.

The Zona Franca, Mercabarna and the port lie beyond the lower edge of the neighborhood, and Gran Via runs from Plaça de Cerdà into L'Hospitalet. Barcelona Airport and la Marina de Port

Aena's official name for the airport is Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, and it has two terminals, T1 and T2. La Marina de Port has no airport route page, so a transfer is requested through Barcelona Airport Transfer and quoted from your street.
