Sants-Badal fills the corner of Sants-Montjuïc between three lines: the Rambla de Badal, which gives it its name, Avinguda de Madrid, and Carrer de la Riera Blanca, where Barcelona ends and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat begins. Long a part of Sants, the town that joined Barcelona in 1897, it was made a separate barri in the city's 2000s division. In 2021, 24,903 people lived on its 41.5 hectares, the highest density of any neighborhood in the city.
The brothers Josep and Oleguer Badal, owners of a flour mill in La Bordeta, opened their street in 1885. In 1970 it was widened so that the Ronda del Mig, the city's first ring road, could run beneath it in an underground section, and the L5 metro station under Carrer de Sants also carries the family name. The Riera Blanca, a stream that drained the slopes of Sant Pere Màrtir, now runs in a channel under the boundary street. On the block of Carrer de Begur, Carrer de Canalejas, Carrer de Sugranyes and Carrer de Bacardí, the textile mill that Jaume Gustà i Bondia built from 1901 to 1903 for Arañó, Ventajó i Cia, later Serra i Balet, has held the Club Esportiu Mediterrani's sports center from 1987.

Rambla de Badal
Opened in 1885 by the Badal brothers between the railway and the Bordeta road, and extended in 1914 toward the old Sants road as an 18-meter street with a row of trees on each side. In 1970 it was widened for the Ronda del Mig, which runs beneath it in an underground section.

Club Esportiu Mediterrani in the former Serra i Balet mill
The mill that Jaume Gustà i Bondia built from 1901 to 1903 for Arañó, Ventajó i Cia, later Manufactures Serra i Balet, is listed as local heritage. The Club Esportiu Mediterrani, a swimming and water polo club created in 1931, opened its sports center there, on Carrer de Begur, on 20 June 1987.
