A castle-like tower building on a wooded hillside above the city at golden hour

Chauffeur Service in Torre Baró

In 1978 a resident took a city bus up the hill to prove Torre Baró could be served, and line 47 followed. A car comes up the same slope for trips to the airport or a train, and brings guests to the castle viewpoint.

Nou Barris district

Torre Baró, the hillside below the unfinished castle

Torre Baró spreads over the eastern end of the Serra de Collserola, inside Nou Barris, the district along Barcelona's northern edge. It covers 1.77 km² and had 2,923 residents in 2021. Vallbona lies to the north and Ciutat Meridiana to the northwest, La Trinitat Nova to the south, Les Roquetes and Canyelles to the southwest, and La Trinitat Vella, in the Sant Andreu district, to the southeast.

The name comes from the Torre del Baró, a tower built in 1797 to replace an older one destroyed in the siege of 1713-1714. In 1904 Manuel Maria de Sivatte formed a company to build a garden city on the mountain. The plan failed, and the building Josep Torres i Argullol designed for it was never completed; that shell, the Castell de Torre Baró, is now the symbol of the barri. From the 1940s the slopes filled with self-built houses on streets without paving or sewers, for families arriving from other parts of the Iberian Peninsula. On May 6, 1978, a resident, Manolo Vital, took a city bus from Passeig de Valldaura up to Torre Baró to show that one could get there, and about six months later the Ajuntament agreed to run line 47 to the barri.

From a house on the hill you can be driven down to the airport, to a train or out of Barcelona, and guests can be brought up to the castle. Tell us the street and house number, the day and hour, and the party with its luggage; the quote rests on those details.

Barcelona Airport and Torre Baró

Aena's name for the airport is Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat. It lies in El Prat de Llobregat, southwest of Barcelona, so a transfer from Torre Baró runs right across the city, and it has two terminals, T1 and T2. No Torre Baró airport route has been measured for this site, so this page shows no road estimate; Barcelona Airport Transfer covers both terminals.

For a departure, give the street and number on the hill and the time of your flight. For an arrival, give the flight number and when it lands. In both cases, say how many people and suitcases are coming.

Questions about a chauffeur in Torre Baró

Can a driver bring visitors up to the Castell de Torre Baró?

Yes. Give Carretera Alta de les Roquetes as the drop-off and the time you want to arrive. The castle is an information point of the Parc Natural de Collserola, and its viewpoint looks over the north of Barcelona toward the Besòs. If the visit starts from a hotel in the city, add the return trip to the same request.

Which address should I give for a pickup in Torre Baró?

The barri spreads over the slopes at the end of Collserola, so a street name alone may not be enough. Give the street and house number, or a landmark such as the castle or the Torre Baró | Vallbona metro station, and add a phone number for the day of travel.

What can you see from the Mirador de Torre Baró?

According to Barcelona Turisme, the viewpoint at Carretera Alta de les Roquetes, 309, looks down on Nou Barris, Horta, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí, with the Besòs, Collserola, Santa Coloma and Badalona in the distance. Give that address as the drop-off, and add a pickup time if you want to be collected after the visit.

Is the film El 47 about Torre Baró?

Yes. Marcel Barrena's film tells the story of Manolo Vital, who in 1978 drove a bus up to Torre Baró to show that the hill could be served, after which line 47 was extended to the barri. To see the neighborhood and the castle viewpoint with your own driver, ask for a chauffeur by the hour and list the stops.

Can I travel from Torre Baró to Montcada i Reixac or Santa Coloma de Gramenet?

Both are quoted on request, one way or with a return. See Montcada i Reixac chauffeur service and Santa Coloma de Gramenet chauffeur service, and give the exact address at each end.

What does a chauffeur from Torre Baró cost?

No fares or vehicle list are published on this site. Your trip gets its own price when you send the pickup street in Torre Baró, the destination, the date, the time and the number of guests and bags through Request a quote.
