Nou Barris district

Les Roquetes, a hillside built by its residents

Before the first homes, the Turó de les Roquetes was a corner of the Collserola range with woods, vineyards and a few summer houses built at the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th. From 1948, families arriving from Andalusia, Extremadura, Castile and León and Aragon began to build on the slope, the first houses without any permit, and the neighborhood grew out of that self-construction. In 1964 residents joined forces to lay the sewers and the running water themselves, working on public holidays.

Les Roquetes lies on the north-eastern edge of the city, bounded by Via Favència, La Trinitat Nova, Canyelles and the foothills of Collserola. Carrer de les Torres divides it in two. Above, around Carrer de la Mina de la Ciutat, named after an old water mine, are houses with gardens and views over Barcelona, close to the Torre Baró viewpoint; below, on gentler slopes, are the shops and most of the leisure. The terrain is difficult, with pronounced slopes and stairs, and lifts have been fitted on streets such as Carrer d'Alcántara. Line 3 of the metro arrived in October 2008 with Roquetes station.

For a car pickup, name the street and number and, if your door is on a stepped street, the closest street with road access. Add where you are going and when, and you will receive a quote prepared for that run.

Questions about a chauffeur in les Roquetes

I live on a stepped street in Les Roquetes. How do I describe the pickup?

Give your address and the nearest street a car can drive up, because parts of the neighborhood have steep slopes and stairs. If a lift or a stairway links the two, say which one. The quote is made for the pickup you describe.

Can a driver take me from Les Roquetes to Montserrat for the day?

See Montserrat Chauffeur from Barcelona for a day with your own driver, or the private tours to Montserrat, booked online with a guide. The tours list hotel pickup in Barcelona, so ask us to confirm a start from a home in Les Roquetes first.

How do I get a ride to a show at the Ateneu Popular de Nou Barris?

The Ateneu is in La Trinitat Nova, at Carrer de Portlligat, 11-15. Give it as the destination with the start time, and the time to collect you afterwards if you want a ride home. Event transport covers evenings like this across the city.

What should an airport request from Les Roquetes include?

Send it through Barcelona Airport Transfer with your street and the nearest road access, the flight number or departure time, the terminal if your booking names it, and how many people and bags are traveling.

Can I hire a driver for a few hours to visit the Collserola viewpoints?

With hourly hire, a vehicle and driver are yours for the time you choose. The Castell de Torre Baró, on Carretera Alta de les Roquetes, has a viewpoint over the Barcelona plain; list it with your other stops and the hours you need.
