La Teixonera, from garden colony to city barri

La Teixonera owes its name to Joaquim Taxonera i Cassà, a shoe manufacturer from Arenys de Mar who was based in Gràcia and had made his money exporting shoes. He bought the land and obtained an urbanization permit in 1902, and between 1915 and 1930 the Colònia Taxonera filled with one- and two-story houses, each with a garden. Its main street, Carrer d'Arenys, takes the name of his hometown and has been the spine of the barri since its days as a summer colony.

Today la Teixonera is a barri of the Horta-Guinardó district, set between the Ronda de Dalt and the streets of General Mendoza, Coll i Alentorn and Mare de Déu del Coll. Mass immigration at the end of the 1940s and property speculation from the 1960s left their mark, and 12,044 people lived on its 0.34 km² in 2021. Plaça de Taxonera is the square where neighbors gather, the Mercat de la Vall d'Hebron stands at the northern end, the parish church of Sant Cebrià is on Carrer d'Arenys, and the Centre Cívic de la Teixonera opened in 1995. Metro line 5 arrived in 2010 with the El Coll | La Teixonera station.

For a car, those landmarks make an address here simple to describe. Your street and number come first; if the door is awkward to reach, a corner on Carrer d'Arenys or beside the square works too. Add where you are heading and when, with the size of the group, and you receive a quote for that journey.

Where should I tell the driver to stop in la Teixonera?

Give the street and number first. If your own door is awkward for a car, name a nearby corner instead: Carrer d'Arenys is the main street and Plaça de Taxonera the central square, so both are easy to find. Add the date, time, guests and bags, and the quote uses that spot as the pickup.

Can I get from la Teixonera to Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron by car?

Yes, on request. The hospital campus is in neighboring Montbau, at Passeig de la Vall d'Hebron, 119-129, and the hospital's directions give exit 5 of the Ronda de Dalt for cars. Tell us which of its hospitals you are going to. Montbau has its own page: Chauffeur service in Montbau.

Can we have a day in Sitges from la Teixonera?

A day in Sitges, or a one-way drive there, is quoted on request, and Barcelona to Sitges transfer describes the route from Barcelona. Sitges is a town in the Garraf. If you would like a stop on the way, put it in the request.

We are skiing at La Molina. Can the trip start in la Teixonera?

Yes. La Molina is a ski area in Alp, in the Cerdanya, and Barcelona to La Molina transfer covers the journey, quoted from your address. Mention how many pairs of skis or boards travel with the suitcases, so the quote reflects the load. Other resorts are on Barcelona Ski Transfers.

How is the price of a trip from la Teixonera set?

Prices and vehicles are not published on this site. A trip is priced once you send its details through Request a quote: the pickup in la Teixonera, the destination, the date and time, and the number of guests and bags.
