The Galvany half of the name recalls Josep Castelló-Galvany, owner of the Can Galvany estate, who gave land for a market.
That market, the Mercat de Galvany, opened in 1927 on the block of Madrazo, Santaló, Calaf and Amigó. Turó Parc, laid out by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí and opened in 1934, lies along Avinguda de Pau Casals, which starts at Plaça de Francesc Macià. Much of the housing went up from the 1950s on, above all between Carrer de Muntaner and Carrer d'Alfons XII, and Carrer de Santaló is known for its bars and restaurants.

Mercat de Galvany
A brick market hall by Pere Falqués, opened on February 26, 1927, close to Noucentisme with some modernista decoration. It fills the block of Madrazo, Santaló, Calaf and Amigó, and its iron interior has a modernista lamp post with a clock at the center.
