Sant Martí district

El Clot, from the Clot de la Mel to Glòries

El Clot belongs to the Sant Martí district, on the northeast side of Barcelona. Catalan Wikipedia draws its edges along the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, Carrer de Dos de Maig, Carrer d'Aragó, Avinguda Meridiana, Carrer de Navas de Tolosa, Carrer de Mallorca and Carrer d'Espronceda, an area of 69.6 hectares that had 26,759 residents in 2021. Before a decree of 20 April 1897 joined it to Barcelona, El Clot was one of the four settlements of the town of Sant Martí de Provençals.

Its medieval name was Clotum Melis, the Clot de la Mel. In 1208 King Pere el Catòlic handed the tower of the Clot de la Mel and a mill by the Rec Comtal canal to the Knights Hospitaller. The 19th century brought flour mills, textile works, tanneries and brickworks, and the railway left its mark as well: the Parc del Clot, opened in 1986, is enclosed by the walls of rail workshops that closed in 1972.

From El Clot, the airport to the southwest, Barcelona Sants and the cruise terminals all lie across the city, and a drive north to Girona or the Costa Brava can start from your door as well. Put the street and number, the hour, and the head count and bags in your request; the quote you receive covers that trip alone.
